  1. thanks! that was a great room, nice high ceiling and a new board. the band digs my tapes so far so maybe i'm just too picky...
  2. yeah i want the drum solos on tape! right now i'm running MS957 > NH900 with OK results mic in, will try line in this weekend. i would like to stick with the MD for its ease of use, and am looking into better frontend gear and going optical into the 900.... here's a show i recorded, for some reason the archive hasn't swapped it over to other formats yet... http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=22752
  3. that's what i figured...i'm thinking about splitting my mic into two outs and using two recorders, start with one, have the other on pause, the first gets close to full and i start the other, make it seamless via computer editing?
  4. most of the bands i catch play right up to 90 min sets or longer now and again. i'm not stealthing, the mic is up on a stand, and i can play with the recorder (NH900) all i want. my question is this: i know i have to either hit "stop" or let the disc fill up before i can swap another disc in, not just hit "pause" and stick another disc in, so if i let the disc fill completely, wait for it to save, then pop another disc in and hit "record" will my settings be the same (i record in manual) or will i have to re-set everything like i would had i hit "stop"? thanks!
  5. sorry about that, "ps-2" is a commonly used term over at TS.com but there's not many hi-MD users over there.... http://www.denecke.com/prod04.htm scroll down and you'll see the PS-2. many DAT tapers run: mics>PS-2>AD-20>DAT (the AD-20 is on that page as well) a lot of people use the Creative Labs Nomad JB3 over at TS too...
  6. been taping a bit using the following setup: ECM-MS957 > NH900 Mic In and have had decent results recording in both PCM and Atrac3. i have access to some other gear to try, my question is would the following work: SMK-H8K > PS-2 > Nh900 Line In or would i have to add an AD converter to this setup? thanks!
  7. so nowhere around here stocks the 1GB Hi-MD discs. i see them on ebay but does anyone have any input? thanks!
  8. .....b/c having a mic plugged directly into the MD could cause the mic to pic up RF from the MD, just a little seperation can make a big difference.
  9. for a really cheap second try i'd say head to radio shack and pick up an "extension cord" for the mic, male end into the mic-in on the MD and other end of the cord female for the mic to plug into. seperating the mic from the recorder could make a difference, and this route is inexpensive for sure! ask for a headphone extension cord... good luck!
