  1. Are you suggesting to install this SP2 and that this will solve the problem? If so do you need to reinstall SonicStage after Windows installs this version of SP2? I tried it without uninstalling and reinstalling and SS still doesn't work. Also US tech support says they will no longer help me. That means back to Canadian tech support...
  2. There are at least 2 other postings on this issue. I am also experiencing this problem. I have found references back to about October 2004. I have been dealing with Canadian and US tech support. US support has been better. Canadian support suggested using Real Player instead of SS, however it does not seem to have HiMD support. The US support (which I am not suppose to use as I live in Canada) has refered me to the "next level" of support. As they put it they have no more troubleshooting items for me to try. SS 2.1 worked perfectly on my other PC (Xp Prof. SP10). I can't get 2.1 or 2.3 to work. Sony needs to hear from everyone with this problem so that they (or Microsoft) will come out with a fix. MZ-NH600D SonicStage 2.1 and 2.3 Windows XP Home, SP2 all updates Pentium 4 3.0, 1 GB of RAM, USB 2.0, Original system from Dell When problem occured I was running in a relatively clean environment, No Anitvirus running, no spyware programs, no firewalls, no utilities, disabled most items. No Codec packs installed.
  3. I have the same problem. I am in Canada. Canadian tech supports final suggestion was to use Real Player instead of SS. That would be great except it doesn't support HiMD. The US tech support (even though I am not suppose to use it) has now refered me to level 2 support as I have tried all of their troubleshooting steps. The MD works fine (MZ-NH600D), Simple Burner works. The seperate Mp3 conversion tool doesn't. One tech said there was a XP service Pack 2 fix on microsoft's site. I can't find it and the SP1 fix won't install (and shouldn't be necessary) if you have SP2. I am thinking about a dirt install of XP. There has got to be a fix to this problem. I'll let you know if Sony helps...
  4. I see the last response is Oct 2004 but I have the same problem. I am have tried SS2.1 and 2.3 and still get this problem with SS starting. I am using XP Home with SP2. The XP Service Pack 1 fix for OpenMG does not work and won't even install. I've followed directions on this forum for reinstallation (actually have problably reinstalled 6 times now). Sony support (US and Canada) have not been able to fix the problem. The SS 2.1 program from the same disc installs fine on my other XP Pro SP1 computer. I am running an original system. I don't even have a database as I can't start SS. Sony has now refered me for level 2 support. Can't wait... what is the definition of insanity?
