  1. I had the exact same problem about 3 weeks ago. I was walkink in the streets and suddenly it started to rain. My remote was attached to my jacket and I think some rain got inside it. When I came home I turned on my minidisc and my remote went crazy, it even turned on my minidisc by itself. The buttons were "changed" and it was just crazy. So, after 2 days of waitting, I left the remote near an open window for 5 hours. Then I wait till the next day to try it again and it was working perfectly. Never a problem again.

    BTW I have a mznh900 that came with a rmmc38 (i think)

  2. Hi! Welcome to the forums

Well, what can I say. There are multiple opinions about this.

Personally i record all my music in Hi-MD mode because i care about the quality since I use my MZNH900 all the day with good headphones.

I also have a pair of discs recorded in 48kbps with stand up shows from Seinfeld, audiobooks, and voice recordings.

Search for post about bitrates quality and opinions. I think you can find a lot of post about it.

You should try the different bitrates with the same song and with good heaphones to realize the different quality.

    Enjoy your minidisc!

  3. don't worry. First you need to uninstal properly, for that, take a look here:

    http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8071

Then you must download Sonicstage 3.2 from the download...

Once in your computer, it will install Sonicstage 3.2, MD SimpleBurner and (i'm not quite sure) the personal audio driver.

I must tell you that the version of SS that you can download from the downloads section doesn't come with the Connect Music Store "utility".

So, if you don't want to use the connect store... go for it.

If you need any more info, just ask.

ps: how did you solve the problem man!?

  4. I've got an email the other day with an offer to buy HIMD 1GB disc. Take a look:

To get the sale price of $5.89 per disc when you place your order, just stick the code "Hi-MD" into the “Special Handling Instructions” box on the "Checkout: Review Your Order" page.

When we process your transaction, we'll deduct $1.00 from each new Hi-MD disc that you purchase.

But, DON’T FORGET! You’ve GOTTA type in "Hi-MD" to get the $1.00 per disc savings.

    here's ther link:

    HIMD offer link

    Hope you all like it

  5. Try re installing SonicStage 3.2 (available in the download section), do not forget to do a clean install (look in the software forum for a sticky post aboput it). Re install also the personal audio driver (doernload section again)

If this doesn't solve your problem, try with another usb devices that take the power from the computer (like minidisc) not from the unit itself, because i think it can be a problem with your USB ports.

I had the exact same problem as you and I fix it buying another usb card.

Tell me how is it going

  6. First of all: Welcome to the forums!

The problem you have has nothing to do with your radio. I have a question for you: this problem always showns in the same discs? Another thing, I think that this is a problem with your player. So, if it's still under warranty period you should take it to a service center (you have nothing to lose).

    About your p.s:

It's not a bad thing. Indeed, I read a post a pair of months ago about people testing battery life under record/pause mode (they left their units all night in rec/pause mode). Personally, I have left my recorder for many hours into rec/pause mode, and still not a single problem.

  7. why not convert them to wav and just import them in SS, convert them to HiSP on the PC and transfer? the codecs in SS3.2 have had more development time than the ones in the recorder itself, and by converting to wav first you don't lose any quality (but you could actually just import them into SS as MP3's and let SS do the conversion)

what makes you think recording in realtime would improve SQ?

I don't think that recording in realtime helps to get better sound quality , it just that I don't want to transfer the tracks through SS because i want gapless recording, and I can have it using some winamp plugin. (I will record entire albums).

About the other thing Volta, what do you recommend: convert the mp3 to wav then import to SS in HISP and then transfer, or import the mp3 with SS and let SS convert and transfer the mp3?

    Thanks :P

if your transcoding from MP3 to ATRAC your compromising the quality, so any point in using SP is completely negated.

I don't understand why I'll be compromising the quality converting from mp3 to atrac (hi-sp). Remeber it's just a mp3 file at 320kbps.

  8. You can use Audacity (available in the download section) to import the tracks to your computer.

First you have to connect the himd to the pc with the usb cable. Then start SonicStage and Audacity. Start recording with Audacity. This program will record all the sounds in your computer (it's like having a fake sound card, so turn off all windows sounds etc, etc.) Now, play the songs recorded in your minidisc using SonicStage and Audacity will record them in a file.

Then you will have a track made by audacity and you can edit it in a program like Cool edit pro or other audio editing software to cut tracks, etc. Then just import the files into Sonicstage and transfer them to your minidisc.

  9. I had the same problem. Try another usb devices that take power from the usb (not from a battery in the device). If they don't work , you should buy a new usb card. The problem that I had was that the usb ports where not sending power to the devices all of the time, so when i connected my mznh900 to the computer it turned it on and off very quick and several times, and when I connected my mznh900 to the computer without a battery on the unit it just didn't turn on.

  10. check eservice.sony.com (without www). In this page you can request for an exchange. You only have to send the unit to Laredo,TX and they will exchange it for a refurbished one. I did it, and the uit I receive was "new". Really, not a single scratch, all accesories brand new, amazing!

  11. There must be another way to get into service mode in your unit. I know that several (if not all) units has a way to enter servmode by ressing a sequence of keys. Look for that on the manual or do a search in the forums.

  12. Maybe you spilled some liquid on it?. If I were you , I would go for the "rm-mc40elk" 3 line display remote. It's totally compatible with the MZNH900 and you have the 3 line display!. Cut and paste the model number on ebay and you will find some sellers. They cost about 70usd or less shipping included.

    Good luck
