Very cool. Have you thought about finishing? Perhaps that 1/16" plexi board (just to get something over the holes), glue that on, and brush on a fiberglass gel. Harden then paint and clearcoat? Could look pretty sharp.
-
Note: I will likely put this up on eBay in a month or so, but I'd rather sell within the "community" first.

You're right, Connect is not available in Canada. So this download is good if you don't want it cluttering up Sonicstage.

Although Kurisu/Ishiyoshi have generously posted links to all regions of Sonicstage.. there is no Canadian one, only a US version. I'm not sure if there is any difference between Europe/Canadian versions, but just in case there is: Sonicstage 3.4 Canadian version on Sony eSupport: http://esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-download...id=2015&os_id=7 It's important to note that if you are coming from, say, a US installation of Sonicstage, and replacing it with the Canadian one, you MAY have to format your ATRAC device. I had to format my VGF-AP1L. Not sure if this will be the same for all.

In my opinion, now is not a wise time to get into a video player, since it's all booming. There are rumours about an upcoming "true" video ipod.. there are some mockups here: http://guides.macrumors.com/Gallery_of_Video_iPod_Mockups Perhaps just hang around until that rumour is confirmed or denied? Otherwise the ipod video is probably a good choice right now for video playback. However, I can't listen to Ipods.. I just don't like their sound. For you coming from MD, you might want to try it out first.

Wow a DVD walkman would definitely be something I'd be interested in.. especially if they get it as thin as the DNE20
-
I also have one I'm debating selling.. has had PDA screen protector on the whole time, not used very often at all. Selling for that reason (usually use MDs) Same thing as above post, except without the PDAir case (just regular pouch) and no warranty. I'm located in Canada.

Got and Ipod Video.. Hate it... Sony please save me!

Try some other headphones with larger drivers or sensitivity. If you're a basshead, I suggest etymotic ER6i, although even sony MDR-EX71 does a pretty good job. -
I also get errors! But hey this would be the first time I've seen someone create a program that could potentially be an SS alternative. Good stuff!

This has happened to me before as well. Definitely go into setting and re-optimize it. Occaisionally the "Thumb" operation setting will yield some strange jerky results depending on the angle you hold the player at--maybe try going to "Flat". I find this method of operation more straight-forward and less unpredictable. EDIT: lastly, when you are optimizing/re-intializing; when it asks you to press the OK button, try two things. Go as fast as possible to it and press OK. If that doesn't improve it, re-initialize and wait until the status bar at the bottom counts down to the last one, then press it. I believe sensitivity is determined by the time an manner in which you go towards this button.

Yes I would say the same thing. Sounds like VBR, since it will usually mess with timing by a little less than 1 second at times. Although re-reading your post you mentioned that it does this with ATRAC--but make sure you aren't re-enc. a bad enc. to begin with. BTW Leon; wicked costume!! [if that's yours!]

I have never used the HD5, but I do own a VP. Use it all the time. Personally I don't really consider it bulky. It's not necessarily sizeable, but it is certainly heavy. That doesn't bother me too much. No-one is really mentioning the price..the VP if you find it still will be insanely cheap since it is discontinued. (Yet to run into any problems btw..) Lastly, as for sound quality, I am going to go out on a limb here and say that they are similar if not the same... but for sure feel free to flame the hell out of me if I'm wrong, since I'm not familiar with the HD5 and am solely going on the assumption that they have similar playback design paramaters.

I can SO relate to that. Once in a while I get those urges, deciding I have to have ____ today no matter what. Too bad it's Saturday and most of the stores are closing early, so it's a mad rush of FF tabs and phone calls!

You might encounter less lag if you use the default skin, and don't use any album art.

Couldn't agree more. While the new walkmans look awesome, I feel like Sony is just 1 step behind. Had that come out at the same time as mini, Apple would actually have a serious competitor. But the nano kills everything else out there right now (too bad Ipods sound bad).

When your Pocket is off, put your ear right against it... do you guys hear the hard drive spinning slowly still? I am not sure if that's normal, but may account for why my battery goes dead quickly if the unit is off and sitting outside the charger.
-
Well the only difference with the Canada version is that it is packaged without Connect. Which is nice. When is 3.2 CDN coming out anyways?
-
So you are saying MS included hi-md drivers within the OS? Interesting, I wonder if Sony included this as part of the hi-md push. I'll install x64 on the weekend. One last non-related question (sorry to be a bother), did you have to re-format any non-OS drives (ie; storage HDs) or is the NTFS file system unaltered.
-
Interesting..! I have heard that it isn't possible! But that's very reassuring. Did you have to install it under any special circumstances? And yes I agree; if Hi-MD works, pretty much anything should work.

Does everything work properly under this format or do we lose atrac encoding, etc? I know that with minidiscs, there is no NetMD option when using Windows XP 64-bit. Anyone have experience on this?
