  1. I got no pictures of it, my bro has my digicam, but will post snaps when I get it back on thursday.

I grabbed the leather one, since the cloth case wasn't what I wanted. It was 34.99 plus tax, which was came to under 40 dollars.

here is a picture if you want to see it. The case has a sturdy feel to it and has quality stiching all around. The front as you can see has the W logo embossed on it, and on the rear, there is a SONY logo ombossed. What can't be seen in the press picture is that the metal circle on the front has a W logo engraved as well on it. The player inside it feels secure and doesn't move around at all.

perfect case for keeping the dust out, I heavily recommend this for people with the A3000.

  2. Does anyone know a forum where there are alot of users talking about Sony products?

I really need to solve this but I don't seem to find big forums with good chances to get my problem solved.

You are in those forums right now, no other english speaking forums have as much coverage for the new a series as atraclife.

first, whenever you connect the device, it will always say, connecting, do not disconnect on the screen on the player, that is how it is setup and that is how it will be, when stuff is transferring over, the screen will "flicker" on and off.

You said you installed the program on the cd, that's great and all, but did you update it? if you haven't, I suggest you do that first off, before importing any music, but the program usually updates itself, if it didn't, update it right away.

I myself, have 1 floppy, 1 internal hdd, dvd writer, and zip disk, plus, an external usb hdd, printer connected via usb, mouse connected via usb, webcam via usb, and a digi cam that i connect on and off to the same usb port as my sony hdd player, and have no problems what so ever.

if your windows xp isn't sp2, I suggest upgrading to sp2, it will solve many problems windows has. if you have already upgraded to sp2 and have the latest verison of connect, then I am not sure what the problem could be.

The unit should be detected in CP right away, and if it isn't swtiching usb ports usually solves that error.

  3. Not at all, depends on the music (if it's found in the Gracenote DB), the format of the music, what options are set, where your media is located (i.e. local, network), and many other factors.

I don't use gracenote, it tags my Mp3s with the wrong info plenty of times, and I would have to retag a lot more songs then if I had it on. i tag my mp3's from info i get from sites I use that has my genre of music.

  4. Anyone want to bet his feelings change after living with connect for about a month?

Tell us 3 months from now, that's is still a pleasurable expereince putting music on your player.. Your still in the Honeymoon period...

Had CP for more than 3 months now, still prefer it a lot more than SS.

  5. can't handle 20 gigs of music? lol

I have now 12 gigs in the player, and in the program and CP works like a charm.

Tell my why on a pc which is similar to your specs, but only a P4, CP opens in less than 30 seconds?

If it was the fault of the software, I would have the exact same problems as you then, wouldn't I?

  6. Never had major issues with connect player, and with the recent updates, the problems stopped. Once i upgraded my pc, the program has been perfect, no crashes or stalls no nothing.

I have a watched folder and it imports the songs I added there, and it doesn't slow down the program or my pc.

I imported an entire directory in one shot of 1000 songs and had no issues, cpu usage was low, and I was running 4 other programs as well.

CP is not buggy, the program works fine, it all depends on your pc's specs and the condition of your windows OS.

  7. Sony sucks in software (they always did)

No way !!!! i'll never pollute my cpu with SP2 !!

your choice, but with sp2 on my pc, connect player always runs smoothly. you don't pollute the pc with sp2, you pollute it wtih other program you install.

  8. As Dinko mentioned, this is not possible, maybe with future firmware updates but for now just use playlsits.

I would suggest making the album playlists in winamp then importing them into connect player, it might take a few seconds to a few minutes depending on your PC speed.

Once it is imported, just move it over to the player.

  9. I am a bit confused what you mean here.

CONNECT player is the program you use to transfer the songs over to the A series, if you want all the features to be working. If CP runs fine on your PC I recommnd using it, and skip sonicstage all together.

If you can't use CP since it is too slow or loads to long, install sonicstage 3.4, then import the files into it. Next transfer them over to your A1000.

Once that done, open CONNECT player and let the unit sync with the program. I am assuming that you have a library imported into your CONNECT player as well.

Once the program finishes updating the unit, unplug it and all the features should work.

  10. Yup that is how you do it.

once you stop it, press hold and on the screen will appear "hold on" then let the player turn off.

if you accidently press it while it is in your pocket, the screen will come on and say hold on, but if you don't remove hold, the unit will power off.

if you want to unlock it, press any button, then press hold again, to unlock the player. that simple.

  11. You're comparing winamp to CP? ahahahahahaha Sorry but that's not correct, you can compare it to itunes, and it runs just the same as CP. Winamp is a stand alone player last time I checked, while wait for it, CP in addition to playing files, also has to move them over to the NW-As.

And yes people are having problems with CP, I should know, I was here from the beginning when CP was launched and had to deal with the same problems as everyone else.

So don't tell me that people did not have problems with CP on higher end PCs in the beginning when they did. End of story.

And no CP doesn't suck, it works fine, runs fine, and has no problems on my pc. The latest build is fine and imo there doesn't really need to be anymore updates.
