  1. A NWHD5H 30GB with the connects2 car kit for Sony radios and a RM-MC40ELK inline remote http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:L:LCA:GB:1123 And nw-s705f 2 GB with the sony case. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:L:LCA:GB:1123
  2. MM wont play ATRAC gaplessly and neither are the transcoded mp4 files played on the walkman gapless. I don't think the PSP will play ATRAC gapless either? Discovered the year metadata is kept on transcoding except in a specific case when the day and month has been selected in sonicstage. Makes using both ATRAC walkmans and MTP walkmans together a little easier :-).
  3. Having a browse through the Media Manager folder I found it contained an atrac plugin. Not surprising as the PSP version supports atrac and the frontpage of atraclife has a link to the sony media codec. Upon adding the folder containing my atrac music into MM I still didn't get anywhere, but by changing the *.oma extension to *.aa3 MM will play, transcode and copy those files to mp4 files on my NWZ818 :-). Including most meta-data, seems to lose the year though.
  4. my 818 has, DCIM, PICTURE and PICTURES. Caps may be important too.
  5. I'm holding and listening to mine right now . Ordered it through sonystyle in the uk.
  6. Sony UK just dropped the price this morning, I ordered a 818 for £129.00 (190Euro). The free case and neck strap seems good.
  7. I can only assume the walkman media manager is a derivative of the psp media manager Which ironically supports ATRAC! It would be a nice gesture from Sony for all of us ATRAC fans!
  8. That article is interesting for another comment too. SonicStage will still be updated so you can always keep your WALKMAN® up to date
  9. Browing the s70x support page on the UK Sony website and they are using images from atraclife still with the watermark! http://support.sony-europe.com/DNA/WM/NWF/...F&m=NW-S70X direct link to the image
  10. On the HD5 the fast forward is slow while in play mode and quick while in paused mode.

    Portable Winamp

Thanks for the info, seems to have expired since I posted. I've removed the link from the above post. f1rick
  12. Try this, it might help. Navigate to: C:\Program Files\Sony\SonicStage right click on "Omgjbox.exe" and select properties. Click on compatibility and select disable visual themes. can resolve similair problems.
  13. In the transfer options for atrac in sonicstage for my hd5, I get: 352 (ATRAC3+) 256 (ATRAC3+) 192 (ATRAC3+) 132 (ATRAC3) 105 (ATRAC3) 66 (ATRAC3) 64 (ATRAC3+) 48(ATRAC3+)
  14. I would like to add my voice to support for the older walkmans with Naurd, I have a NW-HD5 and I believe this is the same encryption as the E40X/E50X. Have you noticed the ml_sony project that already supports these players and the encryption? Maybe OtiasJ can help you there and the source is on sourceforge. These players need sonys mp3 file manager installed because that supplys a unique deviceID that is used for the encryption of the mp3s. Then I guess ml_sony has an algorithm for encrypting the mp3s for the intended device. Thats about my limited knowledge of such things. I will be happy to help out in anyway possible to help you add support and test. Thanks for the great work! Richard
  15. I was updating the drivers on my Vaio and saw the SonicstageCP download was listed. To my surprise the download was not a web installer, but a full installer! I've tried it on my desktop (Not Vaio) and it started installing just fine, as Sony sometimes links the installer to Vaios. This is the European, English (UK) download. ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/Downloads/SO/...01198200-UN.exe If you browse the ftp directory: ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/Downloads/SO/A/SST/ There are many different versions, they appear to be for different languages but I don't know which are which. f1rick

    Portable Winamp

Portable winamp loading directly from the HD5 .
  17. Thanks for the update! Hope things progress well :-)
  18. I really doubt Sony will do anything, especially with the older HD models. But... Thanks to the great work with GYM and ML_Sony the Walkman music database is pretty well understood. Maybe a better idea would be to setup a sort of bounty (like that project to get XP booting on intel macs) for the first person to develop software / a plug-in that's fully compatible with the A series advanced features and HD series. Supports a full media library, syncing and transcoding etc... Maybe even make linux/osx support a requirement.

    Portable Winamp

I came across portable winamp *** link removed as it has expired *** Copied it over to the HD5, added in the ml_sony into the plugin folder and now I can run winamp directly from the walkman . With the drag and drop the plugin supports it makes this a direct replacement for mp3 file manager . Only takes up 4.5mb too.
  20. Do hope the news is going to be good :-). It would be fantastic! Good Luck!

    ML_SONY

That's great! One great feature with the plugin is that The Beatles becomes listed under B and not T!
  22. Unfortunately media player is only trying to sync with the A3000 as a generic usb mass storage device.

Initialise means format because the ml_sony plugin has not been designed to be compatible with sonicstage. There is a menu on the walkman that will do this, you will lose all music on the player though. Make sure you have a backup!! It will essentially be like when you bought the player from the shop, empty! Then you'll have to follow the ml_sony guide to make the correct folders and install mp3 file manager. Then use winamp to re-copy all the music back to the walkman. This will be much quicker than using Sonicstage. But if you are adding/removing albums and songs frequently the artist/album list will eventually become jumbled up because the plugin is only alpha and still in development. Contains bugs! Which will mean you'll have to re-initialise the player and start again to get them back in order. If this all seems a bit daunting you might be best to stick to Sonicstage until the plugin has had more development time. Unfortunately, the only way I know to start your music playing again will be to initialise the player and re-transfer it all because of the 'cannot play track error' message.
  24. 1. To be able to view the music on my walkman the same way as I can view the music on on the computer. 2. When syncing, be able to see exactly what is going on, not just a progress bar. 3. Auto-Sync, so any changes to the music on the computer are automatically mirrored on the Walkman. 4. Better dynamic playlists, so every detail can be configured. 5. Cleaner interface.

Your best solution now will be to initialise the HD5 and start from scratch to copy all the mp3s over again using ml_sony. I can only guess that by deleting a .dat file somewhere the player no longer recognises the current mp3s as valid. Stupid Sony copy protection . You'll probably find you'll need to re-initialise more than you like until more of the bugs in plugin are solved if you regularly add and remove albums. Even so this plugin is so much better than Sonicstage!
