I'm getting an RH10 on the 26th this month from SunnyLife on eBay, so I'll post back with any problems/solutions I have. That blue one has me drueling. I'm just a tad concerned though; many people say there are title errors with the Japanese model.
-
And as for USB power? Isn't there an issue there? I've heard the RH10 recieves power from the computer when connected to prevent it from draining out (like those damn iPods do)

lol, How did Kurisu know where Dex got his goods?! Anyway, I suppose eBay is a bit cheaper, but the shipping is more so it kinda evens out. eBay: RH10 is $390AUD, shipping is $45 AUD Total: $435AUD AudioCubes: RH10 is $430AUD, shipping is $17AUD Total: $447AUD eBay is indeed cheaper, just. The only reason I originally chose AudioCubes is because they send you a transformer for your country for free, which is kinda nice. SunnyLife says he only has 1 day and 22 hours left, which seems silly because it's a 'Buy Now' item and not a biddable item. This eBay fellow, is his stuff completely unpackaged/brand new and straight from the supplier?

Cool. $430AUD... ouch... what's up with the higher price? $13 shipping to Aus though, that's pretty sweet

Anyone ever bought from Japan? These guys say the LCD is convertable to English. They include the English Manual and supply you with the appropriate adaptors and stuff for Australia. Too bad it's only two more days til the offer is up, gotta decide fast

Nice info, thanks! I've found the RH10 Japanese version on eBay for $390AUD ($35 shipping)

The NH700 it is! Can I just ask, does it present you with an on-screen input meter of some kind which shows you how loud the Line/Mic signal is coming through? Or do you play it by ear? (which would be hard considering the TFB-2s are in-ear mics)
-
No drag and drop? So what, you have to burn the discs each time? Now I see why MP3 players are the playback-standard today...
-
Yeh, I just knew the NH700 would be a good idea. I can pick it up with its bonus pack for $350 AUD over here, which IMO is a shear bargain. I've also got two pairs of $70 rechargable batteries which I use for my camera, so there's no problems there. I already have a 15gb iPod, so I don't need to worry about playback features with an MD Recorder. The NH700 is looking pretty good to me at the moment, but the NH900 which Volta mentioned is looking pretty good too.

Hi all I'm a tad new to this whole MD thing, and I was just wondering why people choose the RH10 over the NH700. Why is that? Is the NH700 getting old or something? I've also been told that the NH700 has a few nicer features than the RH10 (like the jog-dial and the use of AA batteries) so I'm confused as to why the RH10 is the most common choice. Is it because it's more expensive or what? A lot of people also seem to be after the RH910. Can I please get a user's opinion on these?

Yeap! Thanks

Well call me stupid, but where the hell is that RadioShack Attenuator? That link on the thread at the top of the Live Recording category leads to a dead page
-
Aah I see now, thanks for that Volta. I thought that too; trying the cheapest alternative first. Looks like I'll be getting the TFB-2s and an Attenuator then! Thanks for all the help, it's much appreciated!

Thanks for the help guys! Going over what I can afford and what I'll be doing mostly, I think the BattBox would be the better option for me. My budget at the moment is a bit low, so an NH700, a Battbox and the TFB-2s are all I can currently afford. I might consider getting a Preamp too sometime in the future, depending on how things turn out with the Battbox. However, I'm still confused as to wether to get a cheap attenuator or a moderately-expensive battery box. From my understanding, the BattBox allows you to change the Mic's volume before it hits the MD and also alter the bass-roll off, while the attenuator can only change the volume. Yet, I've been told that the bass roll off can reduce the fidelty of the recording. So... http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/...?item=SP-ATEN-1 What about something like this?

Thanks for the help fellas. So, for someone like me who is out to do lots of ambience recordings (close traffic, nature, the beach...) would a battery box be more suitable? A440 said the manual controls on the MD aren't enough, so bascially I'd need to have SP put their dual sliders on the battbox too I guess.

I'm thinking of getting an NH700 too, but seeing as it has it's own manual controls, would a Battery Module be worth getting? Would I need to get TSP to put in all the other features for it or just the bass roll off?
