Yeah, I really like Lost too, although sometimes I feel the story is really being dragged out because they need it to take up half a year of screentime. I have to agree with you all about the ridiculous adverts though. And on Wife Swap, I agree, it is car-crash TV. And once you've seen one, you've pretty much seen them all. Although there seem to be some crazy people out there. Can't understand what the fuss is about for I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here. From what I've seen (about 5 mins,) Carol Thatcher is the Man!

Slightly off topic: The quick charger that comes in the bundle pack is retailing for about £50 in Dixons, Oxford Street! It's exactly the same one. Bargain! Thanks again Sefu and all at MiniDisc.au. -
Sorry to hear that Kurisu. Take care.

Since I'm quite new to Hi-MD, I'm not sure how reliable this information is. Check out this pinned thread in the Software Support/FAQs subforum. I read that other people have had this problem, try searching (find a post written by Kurisu, which has the search link in his signature) to find an answer. I think I read that Dex or A440 recommended that people plug their player in via USB before opening SonicStage (like Bobt says, make sure it's version 3.2 or 3.3 - you can download both of these from the forum download section. Make sure you do a clean software installation - remove the any previous versions, follow these instructions.) Did you record digitally from your TV? I mean using an optical cable? I don't think SonicStage will upload digital recordings, I think it will only upload analogue recordings. Both analogue and digital recordings will play fine on your Hi-MD. If you're not recording digitally, I don't know why it doesn't work, sorry. I don't think so. No. (Don't think so.) Think that file format should be correct, but not sure why your computer isn't recognising your player, like I said, search the forums. If you can't get it to upload directly, you could try analogue recording in real time. Check out the uploading link above for "NetMD + Older MD unit users". So just to summarise: * Check out the uploading info thread. * Search the forums for info on PCs not recognising players. * Check whether you're recording digitally from your TV - using an optical cable. If you are, I would change to making analogue recordings, but I don't know whether or to what degree this degrades the quality of the recording... * Check you have SonicStage version 3.2 or 3.3 and if not, cleanly install. Good luck!

Welcome to the forums Karlos 2005. Have you read this pinned thread about uploading tracks in the Software Sopprt/FAQs subforum?

Purplemoose, if you're still having no luck with discs from your local Sony Centre and if you're planning on visiting London in the near future, try the Sony Centre in Baker Street, (cross Marylebone Road outside the main exit of Baker Street Tube Station). I was in there a couple of days ago and they had 2 packs of blue Hi-MDs for £9.99. Sales guy said they "always" have them. Afraid he also said that he'd sold his next batch of RH10s that were arriving in January! If it's possible and you're sure you want one, maybe you should pre-order!
-
Don't know if they sell, but I presume there must be a demand, or retailers wouldn't stock them. *Perhaps people buy cassette Walkmans because they still have cassettes, since that format has been around longer than MD. And they can be pretty cheap compared to Hi-MD players or media. *Also, maybe older people that are unfamiliar with new technology make up part of the market. *And a lot of new stereo systems still seem to include tape decks too, so it would make sense that shops stocked portable tape players. I wish this wasn't the situation and that MD and Hi-MD were more popular, but people just seem to want the "coolest" newest stuff, even if it's not the best.
-
If I've identified it correctly, they were still selling these at the Sony Centre on Baker Street in London when I went in this week. OFF-TOPIC: (They've already sold the MZ-RH10s that will be delivered in January!) (Just to big-up sales people, (I really don't do this often) the sales guy I spoke to knew his MD stuff.)
-
A couple of weeks ago, while browsing your disc pictorials I noticed that you'd not got the XS-iv Design Series 2 up, and so tried taking some pictures of the only cool discs I have, the "Bow Wow Wow" ones. Tried is the right word! Keep up the fabulous photo-shoots! Excellent pictures as always Ishiyoshi.

My batteries arrived this morning, and apparently so did the units a bit later! Cannot wait to get home to try them out! Excellent service from MiniDisc Australia. They've even dealt with my incessant emails about the charger etc. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Many thanks to Sefu too. -
ALL A BIT OFF-TOPIC: You're lucky it's just the one ear - with me it's both! I was the only person in my group of friends at my school who was unable to wear standard headphones - they fell out as soon as I moved my head! I thought there was something wrong with me! I've since met plenty of other people who have this standard earbud incompatibility issue. (I also have a similar problem to AMPlitude with my Sony MDR-ED71s, joint is bit too heavy and sometimes pulls the left one out.) Sony's MDR-ED21 are the best I've tried! No chance of falling out.

My friend had a similar experience when buying an ipod from Chicago store this time last year!

My parents heard about the MD format, and bought a ZS-M7 about 5 years ago. I ended up being the one using it all the time, creating a large collection of discs which I played on my MZ-70. (Used to use cassette players, but MD was SUCH an improvement and so easy to use!) Both units collapsed within a couple of months of each other at the beginning of this year, and I found it very uncomfortable without them. (Running without music when you're used to running with it was very boring...) Read about Hi-MD on the internet and it sounded perfect! A 1st generation player could play my old discs, but also upload any new recordings, and I don't have any MP3s. Saw the MZ-NH600 on special offer (in Dixons, who've now stopped selling MD units in the branches I've been to) and after some initial issues with SS3.2 (thanks so much to all those on the forum who helped me out) am up and running again! And am talking up Hi-MD to anyone who'll listen, mainly the people who haven't succumbed to "i-product" marketing.

If the mini-disc is lying upright on a surface, with the "Insert this End" arrow at the top facing away from you, the write-protect tab is located at the bottom left corner on the side where you might stick a long thin label. Presumably, the write-protect detection spike is located in the corresponding part of the MD unit, next to the door.
