Hey all, quick question on the new Sony X Series. In the NC options, it gives you the option to set the NC level anywhere from -15 to 15. What exactly does this do? Increase the amount of noise cancellation? That's what I'm thinking but I'm just trying to make sure. It really is an amazing Walkman.

My question: What happens if you have an account at all 3 sites? (MCDF, ATRACLife, and Sony Insider)? Will the accounts be merged?

Agree 100%, couldn't have said it better myself. Why couldn't sony release the new walkmans with both WMP and SS support? Allowing those who want to use ATRAC and SS to do so, and those who want to use MP3 and other formats with WMP to do so as well. That would have been perfect and satisfied everyone. Instead they kill ATRAC and SS and force thousands of loyal customers to switch. I hate WMP so far and the entire process of switching over from ATRAC to MP3. I love my new nwz-a728, but without ATRAC support, it's not perfect. Sony should be ashamed of themselves for dissing their loyal ATRAC customers after all these years.

Well, I decided to make the jump and buy a NWZ-A728 yesterday at Best Buy for $171. I spent the last 2 days trying to figure out how to get my sonicstage library onto it, and after several tries I finally got it to work. WMP is a really hassle to use, and I still don't understand it fully, but it seems to work okay, atleast at the moment. The player sounds unbelievable and is capable of so much more than any walkmans I had in the past, I think I'm going to like this one. Now if only it came in silver...

That's what I'm looking for, an minumum of 8GB Network Walkman that is ATRAC supported under $200 (I mean come on I payed $200 for the HD1 and HD5 and they are 20GB). Can anyone help me out with this? I'm loving all the features of the new walkmans, like the nwz-a728, and really want to make the jump from HDD to Flash, but I'm not willing to lose ATRAC support. I don't understand why the newest walkman don't support ATRAC, my entire music library is in ATRAC. Can anyone help me out here?

Good. Now if I ever want to replace my network walkman I can just get one imported and continue to use SS/ATRAC. ATRAC LIVES

But they don't have to invest in it at all. I don't even care if they NEVER update SS or ATRAC again, just SUPPORT it and continue to develop AAC and WMP11 or whatever for Walkmans. Just leave the option to use SS and ATRAC and don't necessarily advertise it if they don't want to.

You are missing the pt. Why didn't sony do what would make EVERYONE happy. Support all the new formats DRM free and the new software without tampering with ATRAC and SS. Allow both to be used, don't force either one. That way the consumers wouldn't be mad because they don't have to use SS or ATRAC.

I would like you to check something for me, if you don't mind. Hook the a818 to your computer and open sonicstage. Does it pick up the walkman?
