  2. I have recently bought one of the sony nh14wm from ebay, and i was not overly impressed with any real extra battery life from it,may have a look at the termainal issue as well to see if there is a problem,it charges up in about 2.5 hours but battery life combined with a duracell mp3 aa didnt seem any different at all from the standard gumstick.. regards toddz

  5. Dear All Any idea how much better the performance is from one of these batteries compared to the standard one supplied with the mznh-900. in hours mins etc.... regards toddz
  6. Before i sold my mz-nh700 i was using the md like yourself very rarely taking the 1 gb disc out of the player,i decided for some reason to leave mini disc and try out other players,a flash unit only and then nwhd-3,vaio pocket, iriver h10,and finally rio carbon...i spent many an hour recording cd`s to these units but only found myself listening to maybe 10 cd`s or more..anyway i felt like i was missing something somewhere mainly litening to the music i had got myself into a rut of listening to the technology more than anything else, spent hour upon hour trawling reviews of units making sure the latest unit i had was seemn in a good light by the community etc... anyway i decided to take the plunge back into mini disc again with the mz-nh900 very recently and have found myself again just listening to one hi-md disc mostly... there is nothing wrong with that at all just enjoy your music,i dont use record,,or mics or anything else really but am happy being in the mini disc community with like minded people who know how to enjoy there music but also having one of the best electronic players out there.. i myslef have had many thoughts and felt awkward and guilty for using it just for playback but and perhaps i was missing something somewhere but am just happy to be back where i feel i belong!!!! regards toddz
  7. A440 Thank you for your quick reply and explanation, this really makes some more sense to me now, really appreciate your comments.. many thnx toddz
  8. Dear All I have downloaded a couple of cd`s from itunes to try out the service, and would like your comments on the bit rate to convert them too... is it best to use simple burner and straight into hi-sp,hi-lp etc.. or convert them into sonic stage first and go for a different rate... Will it harm the sound quality if i convert these cd`s to hi-sp as iam not sure what bit rate itunes uses... i presume it uses 128k so should i not use anything above that to convert to???? what happens if you try and force a recording to use a bit rate that is higher than it was originally recorded from.. hopefully this is not to confusing.. regards toddz
  9. What an excellent piece of writing, where else would you get a apost written like that superb..... ps.. i think you are in love with mini disc..... i know i am.. regards toddz

  11. Dear All This may be a daft question but in the display on the unit it shows the battery level usage, when connecting the external battery pack and a fully charged internal battery is the display for the battery showing what is left remaining on the internal battery only or with the additional battery pack as well.... I told you it was daft!!!! Regards Toddz

  14. Viv That was a superb bargain to be honest,i was very surprised to see mini discs left in hmv all the packaging was a little dirty and ripped on the ones i purchased seems as if they had a lot of old stock and threw it all in a basket but felt good anyway walking out of hmv with mini discs was just waiting for the alarm buzzer to go off, just closed my eyes and kept walking...:-) regards toddz

  18. Dear All When purchasing my marillion (marbles live) cd today from hmv which i have to tell you by hmv prices was very reasonable at £5.99,i walked past the accesories part and saw a huge basketful of md`s for sell,i have already mentioned this in another post under quality of mini disc media.... anyway i went to pay for them and said to the chap that i came back to purchase because you never know whether you will be able to still purchase these in a few months... He surprised me and said that he was a mini disc fan as well and had been for a few years, but recently he had sold his unit ( didnt ask him what unit it was sorry there was a queue) ,he said the reason in his opnion that mini disc was being phased out so to speak was because companys had tried to sell original minidisc recordings of music for £25.00 EACH when mini disc first came out ummmmmm is that right does any one know £ 25.00 each i cant quite believe that .... thus the title of my topic billy liar or not!!!!!!!!! Regards Toddz
  19. Dear All I dont know about the rest of you good people on the forum, but lately i keep recording to hi-md on hi-sp mode from md simple burner... then some days it is at hi-lp then hi-sp then hi-lp i cant make my mind up what b****y bit rate to use sometimes i think i want quality some days quantity, some days i can hear a big difference some days i cant, its driving me round the bend at the moment, sometimes my sony MDR-EX71 headphones sound superb on some music other times pants, one day i use my grado sr60 and i think i have found the right balance with hi-sp,then for some reason lets just check the same music with my mdr`s again hang on i prefer these now... awwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!! It must drive my partner up the wall,"Iam just going upstairs again to record a couple of cd`s be about 20 minutes,3 hours later am back down the evening over, spent a couple of hours on the forum, spent an hour looking at reviews of my sony mznh-900 just to see how good it is,and then complain to my partner that i have missed vincent or the last part of afterlife,or the other evening the blowing up of The house of lords reconstruction by guy fawkes!!!! Mini disc taken over my life, and glad for it I THINK!!!!!!!! Sorry for the post was bored and thought i would tell the forum my innermost thoughts.... regards toddz
  20. On mY Quest for tOday which was for buying more mini disc blanks in watford I CAME ACROSS MAPLINS selling tdk colour 80m discs x10 pack for nearly £14.00 they only had one pack and not surprised the price was not advertised anywhere.... After managing to buy marillion marbles live from hmv for £5.99 which for hmv was a superb price,i was walking out of the sotre and spotted a huge container full of md`s tdk, maxell and sony all colour versions in x5 packs they were priced at £6.99 for one or buy two get third free...... so bought myself some sonys the quality of these md`d does seem better than anyone elses so shopping trip turned out to be a plesant surprise for once.... still not recovered from seeing butterflys on the maxwell disk i purchased last week really...... thnx toddz
  21. Thnx for your reply,i have investigated further and you are right there isnt much difference at all now i have looked at the specs from sony,i have been looking at various webpages and they were all different so thank you for putting my mind at rest...
  22. Well mine is going to have to be mznh-900 seeing as though it is the only one i own right now, have had mzn-520, mznh700, love the build quality of the black mznh-900 seems awkward to use compared to mznh-700 for some reason, maybe because iam using remote control maybe more than i did previously.... take care Toddz
  23. Thanks for all your replys,i happy now will stick to whatever i can find at the moment seen maxell and tdk in local maplins so should be ok for a while yet,off to try ebay for some more 1gb disks i think have a good day.... regards adrian
  24. Dear All Has anyone any opinions on the best mini disc media to record to,i know they are becoming rarer each day to buy but i bought some colour maxell discs today from argos strange design seemed to be very girly (sorry ladies) all butterfly and pink design orange and blue not that it matters just you know :-) So my question was is there an advantage to buying more expensive discs is there a sound quality difference ??? or is it just the build quality that people like perhaps the more expensive discs will last longer?? i remeber a whie ago buying some tdk colour discs and they seemed to be so thin in comparison to my sony ones.... if anyone has any thoughts let me know many thnx Toddz
