  1. cripes! Sorry about that. I don't know how I missed it. Thanks very much.
  2. G-protection is just the ability to find and read tracks in the time between the shock of footsteps. It can be rendered useless if vibrations persist over a period of time. Buffers... don't know any more than what's posted. The above 2 posts suggest that it's compressed when the original data is compressed.
  3. Hi I thought I'd pose the question before installing Sonic Stage. Does the Asia/Pacific version of the program allow the entry of Japanese characters as titles of tracks, etc? Or is that reserved just for the Japanese version of the program? I would like to know before I run the internet installer so I don't get a surprise later. I'm planning to have it on a Win98SE system with GIME, but would the entry of characters require something more embedded like an installation XP as Japanese? I hope the difference between the versions is DRM and the internet music store link... which would make the question a little redundant. ... or should I just use the MDCF offline SS installer since I don't intend to use the net functions at all...?
  4. I had that problem once with a new MZ-R70. But it only dropped out once in a while. I took it in for service and the guy told me the laser block was weak. A replacement block was nearly the price of the MD recorder itself. Lucky it was under warranty. The only other thing I could point out was already mentioned: disc fragmentation.
  5. You say it happened when you added some tracks to the MD with the precious recording? How about removing the additional tracks? Or is that precious as well? I do recall the manual mentioning something about blanking the MDs once in a while as the tracks get really fragmented after a while. My cousin complained about that to me a few years ago. I gave him the "duh!" speech. I don't know what the writing strategy is for the MD. Looked like a single track like CDs when I read about it. But I think the first set of recordings (before deleting or chopping bits around) should be in a chunk at the beginning of the MD so it shouldn't make a difference if you didn't deleted that set.
  6. I remember seeing that in the manual. But then I'm living in a relatively MD back water where they provided OpenMG with the NetMD... Also, I did notice a few menu options mentioning it when I was fiddling with the settings on Sonic Stage 2.x trying to set the output compression (as I didn't get a manual with my copy).
  7. greenmachine is prolly correct. Though I don't remember reading anywhere about Sony using trickle charging, it prolly doesn't hurt to poke around about it... Regarding the topic NH14WM with MZNH900, I recently purchased a new MZNH900 and got a NH14WM as a spare. I've just put it through one charge with the provided NH10WM to check that it was working and get an idea of the charging period so it looks good for trying the NH14WM. A point of note is that the MZNH900 appeared to have a bit of trouble charging it. I put it in the cradle to charge and it stopped rather quickly. A quick check showed 2 bars on the meter. I have (possibly stupidly) pressed the stop button for about 3-4 more times as it seems to have stopped after 20 minutes or so after each press. I don't know if this is that "initial charge problem" mentioned in the notes section of the packaging or if the charger just can't tell when it's full due to the extra capacity and possibly substantially different charging characteristics. Information on the NH14WM seem so revolve around it being one of the largest capacity gum batteries rather than anything more technical despite it being around for a while :/ I am currently using up the "first" charge of my NH14WM. I'll prolly be back to report if something really abnormal happens... but as of this moment, there is no bulging, even after whacking the charge button a few times.
