  1. I just purchased an MZ-M200 recorder and I can't seem to get into the "Menu" options during recording (or playback for that matter). Here's what I do: Record -> Hit Pause Press "Menu" on the recorder to get to the "Record Audio / (Mic) High" option. After that, according to the manual, I should press the jog dial (i.e. the play button) and be dropped into some different selections. However, this doesn't work. I've also tried it using the remote and it doesn't work. Has anyone had this problem? Is this a user error? Thanks.
  2. I guess I'm a bit confused here as to the differences of the M200 vs. the M100 vs. the RH1, etc. Are the "M" series recorders just rebrands of the "R" series devices? Do they all allow uploading into .wav formats from PCM conversion? I'm looking for a new recorder (as I posted in another thread) and need to get one sooner, rather than later. Ideas are appreciated!

    RH1 Troubles

So with all this talk of the RH1 having problems, I have a question: I'm a musician that plays 2-3 concerts a month that I like to record with a simple condenser microphone. I'm not interested in having to sit and wait for the entire recording to play into a computer, only to edit the recordings before posting them onto archive.org. So, would this be a decent purchase for a recorder/uploader only? Is the device recognizable as a FAT32-type file system with drag-and-drop capability, or is the SonicStage required? Mostly I just need something small, reliable, and easy to deal with. Are any of the other "H" series devices comparable? Thanks :-)
  4. Thanks, I might go the RH10 route. Do you know if the 910 is more durable than the 10? Also, is input volume still controllable like on the MZ-N1 and MZ-N707? I never rely on automatic volume control for input; I find that "12" out of "30" is usually the best setting Thanks again! - eric
  5. My budget isn't huge, and I'd rather not spend money on the newest, best thing out there. If you had $250 or so and needed a player/recorder, which would you get? I'd love to go Hi if the sound quality is really that much better, but in the end, I just need upload/download via USB and the ability to export that stuff as .wav Thanks!
  6. So I'm thinking about getting a new MD recorder after my MZ-N707 has been getting flakey on me, and my MZ-N1 won't play out (I dropped it and now the audio out doesn't work). Does the MZ-RH910 allow for transfer between the device and computer via USB so I don't have to sit there and analog out between the device and computer? My only reason for having this is to record performances that I do (I'm a musician) and don't use the device for anything else. I just keep the MD recordings around in case I need them in the future, but mostly everything gets imported as an MP3 from the device with Audacity as the intermediary. Or should I look at other recorders? I don't like Sony because they push DRM so heavily in all their products, but MDs are wonderful. Are there any solid-state devices that compare in just writing a raw .wav file and being able to pull it off the device? Thanks! - Eric
  7. I have a Sony MZ-N707 that I was editing a recording that I made this evening. Everything was complete, and I was happy with the way things turned out (I was just getting rid of dead-air in the recording). I pressed "stop" after listening to a bit, let the TOC write, then ejected the disc. When I put it back in, I get "BLANK DISC". I write protected the disc immediately. Now my question is, what can I do to fix this? I've read about the recovery procedures, and although I consider myself fairly technical, I don't want to lose this recording. Thanks in advance -- I'm thinking it's time for a new recorder. grrr.
