  1. Question: I have been trying to upload a clip to my newly created Album in the Music section of the Gallery. I keep running into a error which says that the file is too large. This is a 10.3 MB .mp3. So I don't keep banging my head against a wall, could someone please provide me with the upload file size limit or let me know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks all, Bryan
  2. Oh boy, have I been waitin' for this!!! Thanks for the hard work in getting this back up! Cheers, Bryan
  3. Quite impressed with the new face of this site! Any news as to when to expect the Gallery to be reactivated? Cheers, Bryan
  4. IIRC, their website said that they would be away through the holiday season until sometime in JAN. It may be that they are still on holiday. Just a thought. I plan on getting the mirco-mini-nano battery module for them soon. I'll report back on any "shify" behaviour! Cheers, Bryan (patiently waiting for the Gallery to come back up.....
  5. Congratulations! That does bode well for the lovers of this format. I have learned much from the people and resources available on this site. For this, I thank you all. I agree that contact should be made to Sony in regards to this occasion and this community. Cheers, Bryan
  6. Well, the best I've been able to come up with is to keep my FLAC encoded versions of the album and then a ATRAC Lossless version in SonicStage. Does anyone have an estimated time for the Gallery to come back on-line? I'm itching to upload some stuff for everyones perusal. Cheers, Bryan
  7. That's what I was get, as well. Curious, as there has been 13 downloads at the time I write this. I'll try to upload the smaller version of the file. (I am by no means adept at MP3 encoding!) Thanks for the feedback. Bryan edit:I give up, I can't get this to work! Happy New Year!
  8. Since my recent acquisition of my stylin' RH-1, I have been looking for tips for keeping the "My Library" organized without having too many redundant copies of files lying around. Let me explain what I am working with. I have been cobbling together a music collection of rips and personal recordings that I have made over the past 12 years. Needles to say, it's a mixed bag of formats (WAV, WMA, MP3 and ATRAC). I am begining to re-rip my CD collection with EAC->FLAC w/imbedded tags so that I can archive my collection and recover some space on my array of drives. My question, to those more experienced in the SonicStage/MD arena, is: What is everyone's preferred manner of keeping their files for long-term storage and for transfer to MD. I should preface this question with the statment that I am concerned ONLY with sound quality. (I have come to my own conclusion, from a brief experiment with ATRAC3+ @352,256 & 192. Nothing less than ATRAC3+352. I find the soundstage suffers too much with the lower bitrates and the artifacts start creepin' in.) I am also striving for gapless playback on albums that flow that way, hence the EAC rip to one WAV file. Is it kosher to transfer a file and add track marks in the player? Or is there a more elequent solution? Please accept my appologies for what seem like rudimentary issues. I have been out of the loop for quite some time, but this old-timer is trying to get up to speed. Thanks in advance for any advice, Bryan p.s. Please take a listen to what an old-school minidisc recorder was/is capable of in my first gallery upload. update: since the Gallery is down, I took the liberty of attaching the file here. I will move to it's proper place once the site is at "fully operational" status. Recording info: This was the chamber orchestra I was a member of when I was giging in NYC. We were on a tour of the central U.S. in 1996 and this was from Burlington, IA in an old high school theater. The equipment was an MZ-R3 and a p.o.s. Sony stereo microphone (the model escapes me, but I will provide later.) Enjoy! p.p.s. Could someone let me know if this attachment is working? I have attempted to verify, but am receiving an error. Thanks.
  9. I don't know if this is old new or not, but SonyStyle is selling the 5+1 HiMD kit for $35 USD and FREE SHIPPING! *ala "The Warriors"* "CAN...YOU...DIG IT!!!" Regards, Bryan
  10. Oh, I'm sure I will. Especially after listening to some of the fantastic recordings that some of the Forum members (including yourself) have made. I've gone to the Vangard and I can say that you "captured the genie in a bottle"! Great stuff! While I was aware that the headphone and Line-Out were the same jack, I was wondering if switching to Line Out would bypass everything (preamp, DAC, EQ, DSP...) But you say go with the jack set to headphone, O.K. by me. I too own the 125s. I purchased them approx. 2 weeks ago and I've had a hard time taking them off! I have been hypnotized by the ammount of detail those cans throw at me! Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions. I'm really glad I came across this group. I hope to be able to contribute more than questions in the near future. Maybe some of my classical double-bass recordings will make it into the download section. Until then, wish me luck on my purchases. I'll give you the scoop when I get set up. Kind regards, Bryan
  11. I have recently joined the Forum and have commited to purchase the RH1 as my MZ-R3 replacement. Upon looking at the User maual, I came across a limitation that confused me. (See tile above...) Here is my situation, I would like to use my Grado headphones with this new unit. Maybe I am underestimating the playback on this unit, but I wanted to bypass ALL signal processing by utilizing the Line Out. If I plugged my phones into the jack (set to Line Out) would this be accomplished? The manual states that you should not do this as the sound would be too loud! I am used to having to put a headphone amp in-line to get the Line Out level to a respectable level. (and I want to use the remote while I'm mobile!) Also, I am interested in getting back into recording so I plan on getting a set of the Sound Pro's in-ear mics. In regards to the need for a battery box when recording events with high SPLs, how different is a BB from a headphone amp? Meaning, could the two be interchanged based on usage? (I know, I know...this is probably a REALLY dumb question. But I honestly would like to know. Is it impedance issues, voltage issues, etc.?) I'm excited to get my RH1 in my hands and I would like to not fry it by hooking it up wrong. So, I emplore you good people to illuminate me. Thanks for your time, Bryan
  12. Thanks for the welcome! Yep....no school like the OLD school!! Well, that thread you pointed me to does reek of dissatisfaction over that model. (Shur duz look purdy, though..) I am still torn. I want a great player, that's for sure. At the same time, I do want to have all the options that the RH1 affords. Arrrggghh! Anyone else have an opinion on the NH700/800/900? Oh, who am I kidding? I'll probably just pull the trigger on the RH1. Gosh, do I hate just "falling in line", but with all the glimmering reviews, I guess I can't go too far wrong. Thanks for the help, I'm sure I'll be back for more! Don't neglect my shamless plug for my (as A440 was trying to imply) ancient R3 and MXD-D3 which will be made available soon! Help me fund my new RH1, y'all.. Cheers, Bryan
  13. I am new to the forum and am enlisting the help of others who are more up-to-date than I. I have a MZ-R3 that I bought back in '94 that I loved and used extensively. It has been quite well used and the headphone jack has a short that stops playback if it is jiggled. I also have a MXD-D3 deck that I used for editing. Well, I would like to enter the 21st century and purchase a new player. I know everyone is all a-twitter about the MZ-RH1. I would love to have one, if only finances permitted. I am mainly looking for a player that will do Linear PCM (as I have grown acustomed to Hi-rez music.) Recording would be nice, but not a priority. I would be using an external amp and DAC on occasion, so I've been leaning towards a MZ-RH10. If anyone can provide a reason to/not to go this route, please let me know. I am just looking for the best PLAYER out there with secondary emphasis on recording. Maybe someone can enlighten me on the necessity for the HD amp that comes with the RH1 if I were using an alternate amp for my portable and home environs. Glad I found a place where we who enjoy this format can share knowledge! Kind regards, Bryan p.s. My fully functioning R2 and MXD-D3 will be up for sale once I settle on a replacement for them.
