Just when i thought GREAT!! i have beat this and can now share my recordings on torrent sites as they are going to be lossless,i get this reply. taken from the traders den site I highly recommend you start recording in 16bit/44.1kHz LPCM WAV instead of mucking around with shitty atrac. sometimes i feel so out of league with a lot of people. i dont understand the bloody khz etc,all i know is i want to transfer my live recordings and share them.I thought the way i was doing it would be acceptable for torrent sites.I didnt intend to muck around with atrac,as this is just what it saved as in sonicstage.I was told lp2 was terrible to use for recording,so i started using hi-sp,and now that doesnt seem good enough.

Not exactly, but if i can il type up a simple tutorial....if i can remember.

Ok thanks again sparky

So if i save as wav will they be ok to upload onto torrent sites as lossless audio.I really admire your patience sparky, think i owe you a drink or two.

This is what i do step by step i plug my md into sonic which brings this screen.I select the stuff i want to tranfer and click to the arrow. It starts transferring to the selected folder. then i go to the folder where the files are saving to and it says they are oma files When i click on the folder to open it this is what is inside( atrac files) when sonic has finished transferring the selected files i get this . So is the stuff that is saved as atrac files also saved as wavs on my pc somewhere??
-
I have just one more question,i wanted it to convert to wav,but all files are saved as atrac files. When i click on one it opens up sonicstage,do i have to re do the transfer or can the files be changed??>

Getting hold of a hi-md 1gb is easy,i think they are about 3 quid.Im happy with what im doing at the minute, but might be adventurous and get one.

Seems ive done it right, but sometimes we all need a bit of confirmation.I greatly appreciate the words of assurance,so it looks like all is ok.I love this site as people are so helpful.

How do i format ???sorry im really trying to not sound too daft.Do you mean as long as i record in hi-md mode thats it.I have quite a lot of live shows coming up and really want to make the most/best of it.
-
This is what im doing when i record.Do i need to use a hi-md disc to record properly in hi-sp or are standard discs ok.This may sound a bit daft, but ive seen a hi- md disc, and wondered if thats what you had to use.

This is a desperate plea to anyone who can help, possibly by recording any shows by this unsigned band. They are called the hussys and are not gigging anywhere close to me so im looking for anyone who maybe interested. If you go to their myspace page take a listen. I hope I've not broken any rules by posting this but i know there are quite a few people who record concerts here (including me) so i thought id beg for some help. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendid=25172288

Ive tried all i can and still im getting nowhere, maybe im making this seem so tricky but i cant seem to get anywhere.I connect my md to pc via usb,my tracks show up in the window to tranfer,i select all of them and transfer to library. When i do this i get these messages,a track can be imported to your computer.Sonicstage can then be used to either play the track or transfer it to aportable device/media are you sure you want to import a track.I get the options yes/no/help.I click yes then i get this message cannot access the folderfor saving imported files.Verify that the folder location is correct. From the catergory section, click locations to save imported files. So i choose a folder and it doesnt do anything,i check the folder to see if anything has happened and there are no files.Sorry if this is a long explanation but i wanted to write word for word what messages i get so then it may help to explain exactly where im going wrong.

Im using a mz-nh700 hi-md,maybe i should have mentioned that before. Thanks for all your help,il give it another go today and see how i get on.

I'm trying to transfer music from my md to my pc and im having problems. It gives a list on the right hand side of all the tracks on the disc, when i select them all and try and move it says it cant find the destination folder to save the files. Also on the md display it says pc to md and i want to go from md to pc via usb.Im using sonicstage version 4.0 and ive tried all i can think of.Any help is greatly appreciated.I have only recently started recording in hi-sp mode and want to make as good a transfer as possible.I have quite a few gigs coming up in the next few weeks and would really like to share the recordings.Ive just started using sonicstage 4.0 and im really trying to understand it.

Thanks for the explanation a440,it seems to make a bit more sense.Just got another message from them today, and said if i do make any recordings to send them a copy, which is what i intend to do.As you said they are covering themselves legally.

Selling anything i record isnt even an option, trading it freely with other fans is as far as it goes.Obviously it will be recorded stealth if the band doesnt agree to open taping, but it would be nice to open tape as i would feel more relaxed.I really hope there comes a time when all artists allow fans to record their shows and not be so hung up about the whole thing. It may never happen but i think by saying no you cant tape, will just make people do it more. Ive just this minute got this email from a pink floyd tribute band, after asking about recording their shows. Thanks for your emails and your interest in Pink Fraud. There are massive copyright issues regarding the recording of shows... whilst the venues are covered for the live performance by their PRS payments, the recording and distribution of that live performance would infringe copyright laws, unless it was licensed by the record company (like the recordings we have made in the past).. and at the end of the day, it would be us that get into trouble, not the person doing the recording etc.. .which is why we cannot allow "bootleggers" to record our shows. There is an authorised release available through the website. I hope this clears it all up for you. Hope you can catch us at a show this year... Thanks and Regards] "Rog" I dont class myself as a bootlegger as bootleggers are the ones that try and make money from this.I consider myself a casual concert recorder, and trader. How much truth is there in the above email,or is it just scaremongoring to stop people doing it.I was told at one show, before anyone had come on stage, that i was breaking certain laws taking photos.I was simply taking photos of the stage set up,and i was breaking laws.He wasnt so quick to explain exactly what laws i was breaking.

One more thing,so many artist see fan recordings as the work of the devil.I wouldnt say convert, but is there a way to bring them round to at least thinking about the whole fan recording thing.
-
If you're not sure if a band allows recording at their shows, who and how should you approach them to find out.

Just to prove im learning( very slowly) i went to try and set my hi-md to hi-sp mode( just testing).I put a disc in and tried to set it to hi-sp.I only got the options lp2,lp4,mono and sp.So i blanked the disc and then like magic it showed up in hi-md hi-sp mode.So finally looks like im learning something, and will improve my recordings next month.I cant be grateful enough for the pricless bits of help ive got from people on here.
