  1. OK, well, on to my "second" question! I just tired twice to transfer 2 tracks, and both times it errored out on me and wouldn't transfer the entire file! First time it gave me 26 minutes, second time it gave me 1:09 minutes... oy vey.... how I loved to hate computers... Any ideas?
  2. Hi there, I've been searching on here for a bit and I thought I would just ask! I was looking for the software to transfer Hi-MD onto my mac, and then I just noticed it was ON my desktop?! So, that's strange, must have something built in to either the OS or it reads it when I plug in my minidisc. Any knowledge? I'm using the MZ-RH1, on an Intel Mac Pro, Leopard 10.5.6. So a few questions. I click on the tracks to import, and it is importing them as .WAV files. Is there a way to import them as PCM files? Once I get them on my computer, what is good software to edit the tracks? I'm using it mainly to record my band, and to record some audio for photo projects I'm working on. Will I be able to just do this in garage band? Any suggestions? New knowledge, ways of searching the forum better (ie old posts that talk about this) greatly appreciated!!! THANKS!!! James
  3. Hi there, I recently purchased the MZ-RH1. Previously I had an older model that I would have to record realtime to my Sony. I was using SonicStage Mastering Studio. Now, it appears I'm forced to use the SonicStage (not the mastering studio) to download the shows I'm recording. I want to be able to edit it. Track it out, cut out dead air, etc. I'm wondering if I shouldn't just make it a .WAV file and see if I can edit it in the Mastering Studio... However, I thought I would see if there were any idea/info about software that's good for editing. I also can't find out where my original files are going to (that are being downloaded...) but that's a haven't spent a ton of time looking sidenote. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! You can e-mail me at thelyl (@) yahoo.com Thanks!!! Jayme
  4. Ok, last question for the day. I was hoping there was a way to edit tracks in SonicStage, but it doesn't look like there is. I'm doing most of my recording in PCM format. So am I going to have to convert to WAV and edit with a "third party" software? I just want to take out some time in the beginnings, between tracks, that kind of thing. I'm not totally familiar with what PCM is, I realize it's the highest quality format, then the ATRAC3plus.... but I have no idea what that is either. So I'm wondering if there is a program that lets you edit tracks as they are, vs. having to convert first. I'm getting the hang of SonicStage, but it has been feeling like it's rather limiting... maybe I just don't know how to use it. Thanks much appreciated from this newbie!!! James
  5. I just got the MZ-RH1, and I'm a PC user, I have Sony VAIO. It came with SonicStage 2.1 (etc). I figured out transferring the files to my computer, I'm using the MD to record live shows. I was recording a show my band just played, and it got to 99% of the transfer, and seemed to lock up. I put my computer on standby, came back to it today, tried hitting transfer, it went to 70% right away, 30 seconds later it was done, and no data transferred, and somehow it looks like it erased the recording from the HI-MD disc. This makes my head hurt. I'm new to the forum, and to my new mini-disc recorder, and I'm pretty bummed about losing the show. Is there any way to recover the data? I've already resolved to consider it a learning error, I just downloaded SS 4.3, which solved my "why can't I make a CD and why can't I make WAV files issue..." The only other issue I have is that it's SUPER slow when transferring the data. That should probably be another thread, but that's pretty annoying... along with the headphones it came with!!! You can't even set the darn thing on the table and listen to it!!! For a $300 device, you would think they could have added another foot on the phones.... such is life. Any and all help/advice etc. is much appreciated. Thanks! James
  6. Hi there, I'm also having a slow transfer problem. My Sony Vaio came with Sonic Stage 2.1.02.10010, so I should look into installing a newer version... but I just read a few things about issues... but also that they are the exception. Mine has been taking almost an hour to download when the 1GB Hi-MD is pretty full up. I'm not clear on the switching from USB 2 to USB 1.... I know my computer has USB 2, and assumed that the MD was using USB 1, is there something I need to do to make this compatible? I also just frickin' lost my third recording of my band playing live... it was taking FOREVER... then I realized it was stuck on 99% of the transfer... the red light wasn't going on anymore... I have the MZ-RH1... so I put my computer to standby, came back this morning, and hit transfer, it was at 70% right away, zips through in about 30 seconds..... And whamo... no data in Sonic Stage, and now the Minidisc says "no track." Why I love to have computers... Any insight/help/sympathy would be great!!! James
