MZ-NH1
As the heading suggests, my friend has recorded a concert using his Net MD in LP4 mode, and is wanting to transfer the tracks onto a CD. So he has given me his disc, and I have inserted it into my MZ-NH1 (Hi-MD), and I can see all the tracks on the MD using SS 2.2, but when I go ‘transfer to My Library’ the transfer bar comes up, then it says Transfer complete, but when I open the Album I told it to transfer the file too, there are no files there. Should I be able to transfer tracks recorded on a NetMD in LP 4 onto my PC using my Hi-MD unit? All suggestions and instructions on how to do this are welcome, Thanks
RandomHero
I think only Hi-MD recorders have the capability of uploading. NetMD recorders (or recordings made on NetMD recorders) do not have the ability to upload to PC. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. xispe
the disc would need to be formatted in Hi-MD mode for uploading... since it was recorder with a std. NetMD unit the disc isn't in that mode
jadeclaw
NetMD recordings cannot be uploaded. Regardless of the recorder. But since LP4 is already close to AM-radio, I see no problem of going the old route through the soundcard...
MZ-NH1
K thanks very much for those solutions everyone. jadeclaw, when you mean, go through the sound card, do you mean to get a cable, that plugs into the Headphone socket of the MD, then the audio socket of the PC, then use a recording program to record from the MD? If so, what program would you recommend? Total Record?
jadeclaw
Exactly. You can use Total recorder, but since it is analog anyway, you can use this free program: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Or check, what has been included with your soundcard. Just connect headphone out of the MD to LineIn of the soundcard and start recording. Remember to select 'Audio Out' from the 'Useful'-submenu. That way, all sound effects are turned off. You can select that only directly on the recorder. Check page 51 of the manual.
MZ-NH1
Thanks heaps for that. Will try it later today
MZ-NH1
I have a new problem . I have transferred the files across to my PC, and edited them using Audacity. I have then saved them as .wav file and then tried to burn them to a CD using Nero, but when the files have been loaded it goes 'The selected WMA files are copy protected' !?? So there fore it cannot load them! So I thought, maybe if I saved them a mp3 it would work, so I go save as mp3 in Audacity and it tells me I need LAME, so I go and download lame, but in Audacity it says you need to find a specific file, and I just can't find this file. Can you please help me out! *Edit* It seems, no matter what file conversion I use, it keeps saying that the file is copy protected! Does anyone know how to fix this? jadeclaw
Check your PM.
MZ-NH1
I think it must have something to do with HOW the file was recorded to the MD (Sony file protection or some bs like that) or the program that I am using Audacity does something, but as no one has posted a problem with Audacity, then I think it is the MD
jadeclaw
Check your E-Mail. In that one, I presented the solution. If anyone else has the same probs, look here: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?p=31690#31690
