mrsoul
I am interested in getting a RM-MC40ELK remote for my NH900. Mainly, I want to use the remote with the backlight on during recording of shows so I can watch the recording levels. The NH900 remote doesn't have recording levels. Anybody out there have any info about the functionality of the RM-MC40ELK remote on the NH900? Before I spend $80, I want to know if I will be able to see recording levels on the remote. I think I read that the Japanese version of the NH900 actually has the RM-MC40ELK remote, so I guess it should work with all functions. Any info is appreciated. Mark J. Christopher
It should be fine and all functions should work 100%.
mrsoul
Thanks kurisu. I think I may spring for the purchase this week but I really want to give it a few more days to know the facts. Anybody own the Japanese version of the NH900? If so, could you test to if you can see recording levels on the remote during recording? I would very much appreciate your help. Thanks again to the forum for all the great info. Mark J. mrsoul
I emailed Audio Cubes since they sell the "World Traveler" version that has the RM-MC40ELK remote with the NH900. Their response was that "no remote will be able to show recording levels". That seems weird since the same remote will for the NH1. I asked him to take another look today if possible. I have also emailed some folks in Australia with a similiar question. Any thoughts? :wacky: Mark
xispe
this one of those sony stupid things... MD is all about recording and live recording, why didn't they include the recording levels indication in the remote!?
Christopher
Audiocubes tech support aren't the most knowledgeable of people, but they do offer a great service and I have immense respect for the company. I actually had to e-mail them and correct several large errors in the inital NH900 listing. Anyway, it's clear that you're not going to get a straight answer just yet as apparently no one employs this combo? Odd. I see that you started a thread at the T-Board and didn't get much luck, either. I'll do a little snooping, but it seems like you may end up being the test rat. :rasp:
mrsoul
I did get a reply today on this forum from a gent in Chicago with the NH800 and that remote. He told me he tested it today after I asked and it works! Martin wrote this in his PM: *************************************** Hello !!!!! I really appreciate your interest, and let me tell you something, I was never interested in knowing if my remote shows recording levels, but I did what you asked me to do and : Big surprise. It does show recording levels for left and right. I hope it answers your question, it helped me too. greetings from Chicago. **************************************** I think I might just take the gamble and go with that answer. Anybody else have any feedback??? Thanks in advance. Mark
mrsoul
The good folks at Minidisc Australia replied back today. Looks like we have a winner folks! Now, I will be placing my order this week for the new remote.   Thanks for your input. Anybody take up the offer for the remote and the battery offer that was posted on the forum? That shop is selling on Ebay as well. Just curious but also a little wary. I think I may just go with Audiocubes even if they didn't have their info right. Mark ***************************************** Dear Mark, I tested the NH1 remote on the NH900 and it does show the recording levels! Christopher
The guy who offers the deal for the battery and remote is trustworthy; I'm about to buy that package myself... Thanks for clarifying about the remote! p.s. I'm still gonna send you that ac adapter whether you want it or not. I've been incredibly busy as of late, but I will get it to you and then you can send me those good tunes.
A440
OK, I know it's a pipe dream, but does anyone know if (a) the volume control changes the recording level and ( does it have a track button? The big ebay photos have a plug in the way.
mrsoul
Got my remote today (RM-MC40ELK) and all of the functions are working on my NH900. Unfortunately, I do have to set the record volume to manual control using the menu button on the recorder. The menu function on the remote only gives: Edit, Useful and Options access. But, as I wished, I can view the recording levels, adjust with the cool little jog dial on the remote and have the backlight. I got what I wanted. Good view screen and works well. Just wanted to finish this thread on a good note considering all the anti-Sony vibes I have sent into the world all week (see uploading blues post).
