Kaotic
I would suggest get a external shell case that has both firewire port and usb 2.0/1.1 port. plus a internal dvd/cd burner. as far as burner brand goes, Pioneer, NEC, and Plextor would be good. mAjEsTiC
if u want a dedicated CD burner there are still some that are premade like the old iOmega Predators still lying around in some shops that will sell them for cheap as...well in Australia anyway...i picked up a 40x24x40x Imation external around the beginning of this year for about A$15 brand new from a shop that still had it... Christopher
I agree with Kaotic. You can get a really nice dual-layer internal dvd writer [with cd-writing capability] and buy an external case. I would suggest NewEgg for this venture.. If you decide not to follow that path, and you must buy external, just get a combo dvd/cd-writer drive. I purchased the DRX-700UL and it's really really nice. I actually would suggest an external writer based on my experiences with such.. Maybe you could find a DRX-530UL for a good price? p.s. Do you have usb 2 and/or firewire?
