stewartb
Hi,Currently using Sonicstage 3.1. Whenever I connect my NW-HD5 to Sonicstage the list it's contents in the transfer section only has options to display by Albums (by artist) or playlists. Is there any way to get it display a list of the album titles only (I have a lot of mix albums and so there are mutiple artists to an album) as my NW-HD1 used to? On every hotline sony says that there will be an update because of this in a new version of sonicstage. The version 3.2 is still the same thing. But: You can install the Mp3 File Manager on your HD5 and there you can see the whole albums...and you cann also delete them!!! Also the ATRAC Albums!!!!Just try and tell me!!!!!Tom
Joe Hendrix
This is something that is sorely missing in the software for all those people (including myself) that have a Network Walkman (I have the NW-HD3).It's ridiculous to try to organize the files on a 20 gig machine with only a tiny window, and very little sorting options. I'm sure I've got duplicate songs all over HD3. Plus, trying to organize and rename groups, artists, and other attributes (so they have a better sort, etc) is just pathetic. The window should be as large as, if not larger, than the "My Library" window.Sony needs to take a page from Windows Media Player regarding the ability to organize music. It should also recognize "The" in the Artists, such as "The Rolling Stones", and put them under "R", instead of "T". Such a simple thing to do in code. It just shows laziness on the part of Sony.Sorry for the rant, but c'mon Sony, get your act together!
Alexandr
The other problem: CompilationsIf I rip CD with many artists, then in SS32 it is looks like "OK" i.e. all songs go to the one Place with first artist. But on the NW-HD5 all artists in the "Artist" view

fotel
I have the same problem, the limited sorting options, I downloaded Ss3.4 today, and it is still the same. Why?? It can not be that hard, since there are nice options to sort music if i want to sort my library...
peterjf
Fotel, this is a 'characteristic' of the HD5, and is not a feature of SonicStage. The HD1 that I still use lists the albums on the player in the SS window in the order in which they were imported, which, while still not ideal, is much easier to use than the artist sorting that the HD5 displays. This is the major gripe that I have with the HD5, as I am in the same position as Stewartb with probably 70% of my music being compilations and mixes. This is made worse by the need I have encountered to re-import all my CDs into SS as a result of Sony and their DRM policy which has corrupted all my old music files. I now have hundreds of re-imported CDs that appear in the auto-transfer window every time I connect the player to the PC as it takes so long to remove a single compilation from the HD5. granbajo
. I seem to remember that you can choose to ignore some files from the autotrasnfer. It happened to me with a couple of CD's I imported for my wife's player that I didn't want on mine... I pressed an option and they never re-appeared when I plugged mine again. I have a different playe and are using primarily Connect, so I am not sure I can check what I did then! stewartb
Sent a query to Sony Support in the UK to point out the problem to them and see if they had a solution. Got this crap reply:Thank you for your recent enquiry.Firstly I would like to apologise for the delay in replying to your email. Unfortunately it is not possible to be viewed in this way on the software, wewelcome feedback from customers, whether positive or negative. I have forwardedyour comments to the Product Design Department for future information. Whilstthey will not look to contact you directly as a result of this, you can be surethat at least your view on this will be recognised. Finally, if you need to reply to this e-mail, please quote reference *******in the subject field of your e-mail.With RegardsTranslation: No it can't and we don't care to do anything about it I think it's very bad of Sony seeing as previous NW-HD models were able to display the contents in Album Title order. I would have thought that it would be easy enough to release a patch for the HD5 to fix this problem but Sony seems to have completely given up on it to concentrate on the new A3000 series, which has more coverage and accessories than the HD's ever had! This feature is so annoying that I am considering buying another player and although I am annoyed with Sony I am looking at the A3000 - can anyone tell me if this has the same problem? Also has anyone else found a way around this problem by perhaps using another piece of software to access the contents list on the HD5 and display it in Album Title order?
