Lanyards

Question

Talk of the E507 not including a lanyard leads me to ask the next question-- what options are there out there for lanyards? Suppose I want to get one and it's not included with my device-- any thoughts on where to look or WHAT to look for?

I suppose any number of gadgets could benefit from a lanyard....

I pinched the lanyard off my Creative MuVo DAP for my NW 407 :ol_lol:

Then I found a cheap lanyard in a mobile phone store, and used that for my MuVo (not as good quality, and I don't use it that often!)

I certainly wouldn't trust the plastic belt clip that Sony provide with their flash players.

I purchased a Sony MDR-NE1R which is a sort of lanyard-earphone combination.

Thought the idea of them both in one unit would cut down on tangles and be more convenient.

The lanyard connection is attached to a small plastic block which has a sort bayonet connector for quick release.

Threading the loop through the little hole at the back of the E407 was a test of dexterity which took nearly ten minutes.

It seems fairly robust so far.

It sort of sucks how phone/digital camera/dap lanyards in the US are hard to find. In Japan, it's a lifestyle necessity and everyone has them and you can find stores all over the place with unbelievable selections.

Tokyu Hands (a chain of lifestyle stores) has a great selection if you're ever in Japan.

eBay seems to have some stuff available if you dig enough:

Some USB flash drives come with lanyards these days and you don't normally need to carry them strung around your neck all the time, these lanyards are very useful for the NWE4/5 series. They may say Verbatim. imation, SanDisk rather than Sony but still work.

Sony have missed yet another advertising opportunity for very little outlay (not to mention customer satisfaction).

I'm using my verbatim lanyard :). I like it because it has a clip on the end, right before the loop that is tied to the walkman, so I can easily clip it off to attach to usb when i need to. Only problem is that it sort of contrasts with the dark colour of the earphone cord.

Here are some pics of my homemade lanyard (NW-507):

Steps 1, 2 & 3.

The whole package cost me $1 dollar at a local bead store. The only problem is that I thought I would make it sit in the middle of my chest for workouts. However, I can't pull it out far enough to read it.

Good Luck
