Duplicating old MiniDisc

I have 50 or so MiniDiscs which we use for dance classes. I bought an MZ-NH1 hoping that the new fast USB upload would allow me to back up my MiniDiscs quickly and produce new copies as some are getting old. SonicStage won't upload Discs not recorded on my MZ-NH1. Any ideas other than real-time line in/out recording?

Unfortunately, there is no way that i know of which will allow you to transfer the songs quicker than realtime :-(

Sony restricts every transfer (even analogue recordings may only be transfered once to a computer with a hi-md)

My only advice is to back them up in real-time and make sure you back them up before transfering to the hi-md. Do not loose the backup because if you wish to make another copy, the same thing will happen.

The best way is finding MD duplicate service bureau.

They have duplicate machines like http://www.minidisc.org/part_Denon_DN-045R.html.

The machines bypass decoding and encoding; that is, you can have 100% perfect duplicate.

If you use two MD recording decks and then connect digitally, that's in real time

and also there should be decoding, when playing, and encoding, when recording.

Encoding again means re-copmressing the original.

I don't think there's any big sonic difference, between the original and copy,

audible by human ears though.

Third option is using your MD player and PC.

If you have a MD deck that has digital out (optical or co-ax),

it's much better than using analog out.

Digital out of MD recorder or player -> PC sound card digital in

or

Analog out of MD recorder or player -> PC sound card digital in

Recording the MD sound with PC recording software.

MD to PC uploading is only available for HiMD media contents.
