VAIO pocket remote

anyway i've always been a remote person with md & i'm having a real problem with the rm-vsc2 remote included with vaio pocket. with small or even no screens on a lot of md stuff the remote gave access to all the deeper functions along with the at hand control rather than grab the player from a bag or pocket. as such the vaio having a sony style remote really won me over - one of the many things my ipod can't do.

my disappointment with the vsc2 is in it's squishy impresice buttons & the fidly way too many [imo] functions are implemented on each button. a strong backlight & three lines don't make the average UI bearable for me.

i'm currently using an rmc 11el that will control volume, skip forward/back, ff/rew

pause on the remote changes the eq settings & play/mode & rpt/ent both go up a level in the menu - these are the only two that bring the 'remote under operation' screen on the main player. nothing is displayed on it's one line screen.

I voted no as I never see the need to employ remotes in general with the VAIO Pocket. However, I do agree with you. The VSC2 is rather bulky and squishy as you put it. I wished it was sleeker, resembling its main unit - the VAIO Pocket.

I use it when on the go as I rather not fumble with the main unit as it is tucked away in a protective neoprene pouch. I find the remote a little bulky but very informative and responsive.

I would rather not use another remote if all nevigation options and information displayed are not fully available on it even if it is more streamlined.

I voted for no. This was one of the pro's of the Vaio pocket over other mp3 for me too, since i,like you, had always been a 'remote person' with MD players.

The remote does not have enough buttons on it and the ones it does have are awkward to use. Although i always carry the remote with me i always find myself whipping the player out of my pocket to use it.

the remote is ok, except for when trying to scroll through a large list, then it just bites.
