In almost worrying news some UK retailers are selling off the GameCube for a cheap price, suggesting they no longer wish to stock it.

A while ago Argos reduced the price of the GameCube console because they wished to get rid of their stock. After an incredible increase in sales they decided to carry on stocking it, but seem as if they wish to get rid of it now.

Argos have reduced the GameCube from the RRP of £79.99 to only £39.99 and have also reduced the cost of games and accessories by a drastic amount.

Meanwhile other retailers like Index and some Woolworths stores have cut the price of their games in a similar attempt to drop the GameCube from their line-up.

While this means you can pick up titles like Mario Kart: Double Dash!! for only £9.99 it is worrying that retailers are seemingly giving up on the GameCube.

Does this mean that sales of such are disappointing there? UK folk, is the XBox/PS2 the champ? Additionally, could this be revelation that a new system from Nintendo is coming?

Thanks for the info. You ever play a Gamecube? The graphics are rich, the functionality is elementary but addictive and the titles are very fun. The lack of online capability is a bit disappointing in this day and age, but if you've got some mates over nothing beats Double Dash or the other multiplayer titles.

Exactly. Remember playing a few months ago with some friends after a night out.

Super Monkey Ball and the sequel (Super Monkey Ball 2) are awesome. Especially cool are the minigames, Monkeyball Boxing? AWESOME!

The Gamecube is a great console for oddity games like that. The problem is that most popular games are cross-console, and they always look and play better on the X-Box.

I own them all, as I'm a junky of games.
