Shure Incorporated today announced the latest additions to its award-winning line of premium audio accessories: the E4c sound isolating earphones and the QuietSpot Inline headset for mobile phones, both of which are being previewed at the 2005 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Like all products in the Shure consumer audio line, the E4c and QuietSpot Inline utilize Shure's unique sound isolation design to prevent ambient noise from compromising the listening experience and to deliver the ultimate in audio quality.

Expect to see more headphones geared towards cell phones [as there's mention of the QuietSpot Inline in this press release] as 2005 will be all about MP3's and cell phones, espesically with the Motorola + Apple iTunes phone coming out soon.

I still can't get into earbuds though, the potential they have to destroy your hearing is quite high.

Erm, only if you're a moron and listen too loud. biggrin.gif The potential for any headphone to destroy your hearing is quite high. IEMs don't do it any more than big studio or premium headsets. Yeah, the driver's way up in your ear, but it's also a lot smaller. tongue.gif

Edit: if these have better highs than the E3cs, you can bet your ass I'll be buying me a pair. cool.gif

i'd assume it's the successor to the E3cs, so it should have better highs; just like the improvement from the EX70 to EX71

Not sure about that... the E5cs don't have better highs than the E3cs, and they're the high end dealies.

Maybe I just need Sensaphonics. biggrin.gif

If you get a pair let me know how they sound biggrin.gif I use the E3c, like you, with an iPod Mini... though I'm not amping them. It's the lower-end that I find lacking on some music with the E3c+iPod Mini combo. And no I'm not a basshead tongue.gif Just certain types of music seem to be lacking...

I amp my E3cs, not for the bass, but for the high end. =P Just a simple little CMoy in a Hammond case, 1x 9V power, OPA2227... it's rather cute.

Hi guys,

I'm pretty new in the change-earprones so, one of the things I see is the impedance, i.e. 16 Ohms. I've decided to buy myself a pair of Etymotic (ER-4P) but their impedance (nominal?!?) is 27 Ohms.

Now, my question is:

Since my units MD-R91 and MD-NH900 are both 16 Ohms, can I plug those earbuds in ore are there any problems due to the impedance difference?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Batman

Nope. Does not cause any problems.

Thanks man,

I'll go with the thing as soon as I can get a shop here in Italy. I also think I could go to an american base (there's one close to where I live and I've some friens working there so they can sign me in...) and see if it's still convenient, considering shipping costs over the internet from the States to Italy...

Cheers,

Al.
