Encode/decode Train Clip-fu.

Got bored at work and was comparing encoded files to their wav counterparts. I noticed clips in one of the files I was screwing around with...

Something in the encode/decode train is causing this. Since I can't open OMG directly in Audition I can't tell if SonicStage/codec is doing this or HiMDRender. *shrugs*

I think you could use Total Recorder or the like to record your WAV-out to your PC (or simply via using a mini to mini plug loop, even). Try recording the SS'd track directly and that should reveal where it's happening, the Decoding from SS or HiMDRenderer.

I say, HiMDRenderer is innocent here, as it uses the DirectShow filters installed by SonicStage.

I suspect, that Atrac got the scaling wrong by about 0.05 Decibels, as only the highest peaks got clipped.

If the recorders codec suffers from the same problem can only be determined, when we have home decks with Digital out.
