After spending two weeks pouring over interesting topics on this site, I took the plunge and ordered a MZ-NH900 and SP-CMC-2A mics from Sound Professionals to update my previous netMD. The main reason was to record my daughter's Christian rock band at church. It arrived Friday. Based on info gleaned here I set the mic to low sensitivity and manual volume to 16/30 as the electronic drums were not too loud. I was about 40 feet from the band and recorded in Hi-SP on an 80 minute disc. I then used a link on these pages to upgrade my SS to version 2.3 and then downloaded Sony's wave conversion tool. It was then easy to download my recording to my hard drive in SS, covert the file with the WCT and record a CD with my existing Windows XP media software. I think the result for a newbie was incredible and wish I knew how to set up a link to share my results. Thanks for all the help to those who pass on their valuable knowledge.

I second that emotion Dex!

We get way too many complaints about the system but it works if you pay attention to what you are doing. You can't be on autopilot with your software updates or your settings but it will work and give you excellent results. Thanks again Featfan80 (Bill Payne fan are ya?)for sharing your positive experiences and welcome aboard.

Chris-

Weren't we trying to setup something to allow uploads for sharing?

Head over to http://www.archive.org/audio/collection.ph...pensource_audio

and see if you can find something there to help in the meantime.

or see this Live Samplesthread

When the server migration is complete, we will then begin a tiered hosting plan [free of course, but then more space for people who have proved themselves helpful]. You'll just have to be patient, but I'm very sure that a new machine will come soon.

p.s. I am overjoyed that someone is able to accomplish success, which indicates that our structuring is starting to mature and it is easier for noobs to attain information and employ it in the real world. It's only this fellow who speaks, but remember folks, there's alot more of them out there. Welcome to the forums indeed. wink.gif
