exvaxman Posted February 25, 2005 Report Share Posted February 25, 2005 A while ago I saw an article that stated that the Hi-MD media had been accepted by the FCC (or Sony submitted enough data) that it could contain "secure" video data through use of the damned "broadcast flag". The article was non-technical, and was based on storage media for video. Anyway - a DiVX movie of decent quality for a portable device is easily under 1gig. Any rumors of a small video playback unit? Other than the non-compatible and low battery life PSP? I currently carry around a hard disk unit to catch up on TV in travels, but being able to have a media that is far more durable.... I have taken my kid's Gameboy advance with a video adapter (lik-sang) ontrips for movies.... but the CF cards are still a little more expensive then Hi-MDs. With that hitherto unknown second processor simultaneously decoding the data and displaying it? Hmm.. somewhat misleading, I think.Presumably you mean simply using the disc as a data drive via USB, with the laptop doing all the work.
