Hi-md Writing Ability Isn't That Slow Compare With Dvdr

it seems to me that a 1G Hi-MD would takes about 8 mins to fully download 1G data/music

well for dvdr it takes about 15 mins to fully record a 4.7G dvdr @4x speed

be a comparison, Hi-MD is not that slow, right?

you most definetly have your figures mixed.

my dvd burner burns at 2 megs a second. and thats only 2x. I bet there are faster ones going at about 8 megs a second.

hi-md currently, at peak transfer times, goes at no more than 1 meg a second.

no in my personal tests ive only had it peak around 900KB/s but it usually hovers between 200-500KB/s which is about 1.3x - 3.3x CD-ROM speed

only real positive ability md have over cd/dvd-r(w) is the ability of being a RAM device, not a worm device.

oh, and it can take a bit more beating. guess it comes from the fact that MO media is the media of choice for backups these days
