Might have to pick up one of those NW-E500's - that "IRL" picture is stunning.

Yea, a portable gig of music and radio is great. Definitely good for hiking or camping where the MD wouldn't last long enough or eventually start skipping or get dropped and damaged.

Wow, they look even better in those photos than the original ones from a month ago.

actually, the pictures in the unupdated post are no photos, but "illustrator-ed" images, or made with 3-d rendering sofware, or whatever.

see this Click for enlarged picture of the JOG dial

- no way, this is no photo, you´ll agree.

shiny objects and chrome optics cant really be photographed to look good, you´ll always have unwanted reflections, that mess it up. so they "fake" a photo.

-still, they look so sweet, makes me want to get one immediately

Pricing for NW-E105 (512MB) and NW-E103 (256MB) has been released in HK. They are $1698 and $1398 respectively.

This compares to $1,170 and $780 for the ipod shuffle. ie more than 100% more expensive. The sonys should have some price premium, but not this much premium. Sony is pricing themself out of the HK market, one of the few places where Sony still has some cache.

I assume that is its MSRP price; and you can likely get it cheaper by stores around Mong Kok, right?

It is MSRP, but in HK I don't think you can get much discount unless you find a parallel import.

But the point is....most punters are not going to want to "work" to get a lower price on these devices that is still likely to be more expensive than the competition. They are somewhat desirable, but not *that* desirable.

The pricing in HK is totally out of whack with overseas pricing for these models. $1698 = USD 212 and 117% premium to ipod (and even more expensive than 4GB ipod mini). In the US, this model is $149, a 50% premium to ipod shuffle and cheaper than 4GB ipod mini.
