The_Stamp
Hey there.. it seems that every song i play in SS (ss2, and ss3) seems to always control the volume dynamically.. like as soon as theres bass, it turns down the volume to compensate aka normalizing every sample. this is freaking annoying, as i cannot tell quiet parts from loud parts, and the volume seems like its pulsating. It doesnt matter what volume its at, it always varies around the spot i set it to. turning the bass or treble doesnt work either.P4 2.8 ht768 ramSB audigy 2 (vanilla)xp sp2 (auto update is on)Help! LowMD
Are you compressing mp3 songs down to Hi-LP? Perhaps this is the result of the double compression. Try ripping a .wav file from a CD and copying it to the MD in Hi-SP and Hi-LP and see if you're still getting the same effect.
The_Stamp
naw, its playing right from the mp3. happens to every single one of my songs, whther its pcm, hi sp, LP2, or hi-lp.
bug80
Very strange. If I play a file in Sonicstage, it has the same dynamics as if I play it in Foobar, for example, so I assume that there's no compression. What kind of soundcard do you have? Maybe SS's output is routed to a channel on your soundcard that has some sort of dynamic reduction plug-in attached to it.
