will all of the new HI-MD units coming out allow recording in stero PCM?

how many minutes of PCM can 1 HIMD store?

can i transfer these tracks via usb to a computer for backup purposes?

can i transfer these tracks to an older style 80 min MD via MDLP2 to play in older models?

thanks in advance!

ok, thought of another question...

currently i burn mp3's to a cd then record them manually to MD using an optical cable from the cd player in MONO mode so i can get approx 40 tracks on 1 MD (my sound system is mono).

ok, now, say i have 40 songs (mp3's) i want to transfer to MD from my computer using soundforge or whatever the newer HIMD models use.... can i transfer the songs to disc in mono so i can get 40 songs on a 74 or 80 minute MD to play in my older MD decks like i do now???

My understanding [from info from Sony Japan] is that the 2nd-gen models do not write to MDLP-format discs at all. You can use legacy MDs in HiMD mode, but cannot write discs that are backward-compatible with netMD / MDLP / MD.

Additionally, HiMD has no mono modes.

Incidentally, 1st-gen HiMD units when put in netMD mode have all the exact functions of any netMD [for realtime recording].

edit: keep reading the thread. smile.gif
