bratt
Last Thursday I purchased a Creative Zen Touch 40gb, having been a loyal minidisc user for many years. I'd spent a lot of time looking at al the HD Players and thought I'd chosen well. Boy was I mistaken. The first thing the player displayed on power-up was "Firmware Problem". Dissapointment started to set in. Eventually I got the player working, having flashed the firmware with the latest version, but his was short lived. After several freezed, locks and many resets I took took player back. The store assistant wasn't at all suprised and imediately offered me my money back. I was probably unlucky and had bought a duff player, but having now searched on Google for "zen touch firmware problem" it seems I'm not the only one.Anyway, having got my money back I'm sticking to my good (not so) old HiMD player.CheersMike
Guest NRen2k5
Keep in mind that for every 100 customers who complain about a product there are 10,000 perfectly happy ones.
Kardon
yea, im thinking about buying a 5 gig player. cant make up my mind.I could go with the reasonable ugly and featureless dell pocket DJ for a low price.I could go with everyone else and buy a iPod mini, they have lowerd there price and doubled the battery life, but only a 4 gig. Or i could go with a new samsung yh-820, its the most expensive of the bunch, but its got a 5 gig, color screen, built in mic, and a line in, and a bunch of equalizers, but its got the same batt life of a dell, about 8-9 hours before a re charge. But battery life isnt all that big deal, unless im going on a road trip.Or i could stick with my MZNH600D. I havnt ran outta room running on LP4, but i HATE not having a backlight. I didnt think it would bother me to much, but it drives me crazy. any opinions. and BTW here are prices(CND)Dell: $220+$15 for shipping (in this case i have to order)Apple: $250Samsung: $300Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.. Guest NRen2k5
Please don't doublepost.Anyway, if I was to get a 5GB MP3 player, it would have been the Rio Karma.Since it is discontinued I'm sticking with MD and MP3-CD players.(I just got a D-NE720 last week.) bratt
Just ordered my MZ-RH710. Sold my "only owned for a day" MZ-RH10 on ebay last week http://shorterlink.co.uk/3910 . I sold it because I don't think it's worth the money, plasticy construction, no lcd remote, no stand, etc, and to think it's the top of the range! Hoping the RH710 is worth it.... cost £95 from qed-uk.com - they have some in stock at the mo.
Christopher
That has boggled my mind. You weren't even impressed by the display of the RH10? Most people wouldn't buy the lesser quality model in response to that, it's likely the RH710 will be worse than the RH10.

The RH10's display is quite impressive, but as I tend to keep portable players in my pocket it's not a killer feature. A LCD remote on the other hand would have made a big difference.I just got a big sinking feeling when I first handled the RH10 - bring back aluminum construction please Sony.Mike Edited May 11, 2005 by bratt
Christopher
Maybe you should consider a first generation unit, like the NH1 or something..
