MDnewuser
I have been thinking now for a long time to 1. build my own batterybox or 2. buy one on the net. What is recommended ?, because i must have one to make serious recordings. I feel a bit insecure when i see Sound Proffesionals and Microphone Madness so alike productwise. MM seems a bit better built but that might just be the look. I considered buying one with bass roll off until i heard Giant Squid audios samples, they sounded very thin. Since i mostly be using cardiods i have redsomewhere they have a "natural bass fall off". I live overseas and usually likes best to go to a shop and buy stuff, but they dont have either small mics or accesories here. Easy to buy from US companies ?, it isnt/feel easy, but if i make a good deal, i might be able to buy a pair of great mics to. mrsoul
Check out Reactive Sounds. You can get a standard Battery Box- "The Juice Box" or you can get a mic preamp that also serves as a battery box- that is the "Boost Box". I have that "Boost Box" and it has served me well. You get the benefits of the Battery Box with the Preamp Boost Box. No bass rolloff on either and running cardioids on the Boost Box, I haven't noticed any bass overwhelming the sound. I will be trying it outside out at festival this week in Florida using subcardioid elements. That will be a test of the bass. But, give Reactive a look, the quality is very good and the results, excellent.http://reactivesounds.com
MDnewuser
mrsoul: OK thanks, they seem both wellmade and good price. 49 USD is a bargain compared to both SP and MM, the advantage of SP though is the smallness of the SP-SPSB-6. I dont think i will need bass roll off, since my listening experiance is that it lack the bass and is easier to cut out afterwards. Right ?I think its hard to imagine sometimes how big a batterybox can be and how to carry it along with MD, another beltclip maybe would be good:-)Any hints for this ?Ill send a couple of mails to the diffrent places on ordering overseas and see how they reply, it finally seems i am getting my Batterybox. vansmack
I'd recommend a Sp battery box w/ bass roll off. I've recorded 100's of shows never having a problem. Usually hard rock or punk bands.
