Transfer From Md To Pc Via Usb External Soundcard

In the past I've tried to transfer my recordings to my pc but the results have been poor, due to the quality (or lack thereof) of the soundcard. A USB external sound card would seem to be the solutiom, does anyone have any products to recomend, espically one with an optical digital input.

I use Creative Labs 24 bit external s/card "Audigy 2-NX", USB connect to PC. Has mic/line/optical in & line/optical out. Plus a whole bunch of speaker/sub woofer jacks (may be 5:1, not sure on that as I don't have all speakers connected.)

Comes with so-so recording software, I personally use Cool Edit/Adobe Audtion. If you're running Win XP (SP1 or 2) then you need to update the firmware/software as it will freeze windows.

Wasn't there recently some sort of brouhaha with Creative where its advertised 24-bit wasn't really 24-bit?
