gem
this is really lame but i really enjoy looking at different MD blanks. i only have the very ordinary "color" series by sony (the shiny blue, green, red and black ones) but i enjoy seeing photos of unique discs-- for example hello kitty discs (even if i hate that character), hard to find polka dotted discs, etc.. see some of the photos of discs that i'm gonna attach. they're not mine, i just saw them on an online auction site. i probably won't ever buy those though. the collectible md discs are too expensive and i know i'll never be able to use those pretty discs. maybe there should be a thread on MD disc collecting where people can put up photos of hard to find/ one of a kind MD discs. heheh.. not many people put photos of these in the gallery. mostly photos of their recording equipment.-------------i would also like to know the differences in quality between different MD blanks. Ishiyoshi
Glad to hear you fancy collecting MD blanks. I am a collector myself and have amassed a substantial collection from past and present offerings - just to name a few, from brands like TDK, AXIA, JVC, Sony, Maxell, Saehan...I am planning to move some of my MiniDisc blanks/media gallery from T-Board to MDCF shortly. Keep a look out.Quality wise, most major MD blanks are almost identical; especially brands like TDK, AXIA, JVC and Sony. Among these, I love AXIA's packaging the most. Its MD case is among the best. Maxell, on other hand, employs plastic shutters whereas most producers used metal shutters. Now, one can question the viability of using plastic shutters; but I can assure you that Maxell's plastic shutters is almost as good as a metal one. No significant problem there.
