Format Error Disc?!

I taped a show tonight...the 2 openers on a 80min disc in HI-SP with no problems. When the headlinder came on I switched to PCM w/ a 1 GB disc. Everything recorded OK.

I plugged in the MD (RH10 US) in to my radio in my truck and everything was fine...listened to 15-20 min of the show no problems.

Then I get home and attempt to upload the set from the HIMD to the PC and after about 2 min or so I get an error saying "Error transfering file - an internal error has occured". I try it a few more times and I get the same thing. Ive rebooted several times and still nothing.

I installed total recorder and did the play record thing and it goes fine for about 4 min and then the MD display comes up with "Data read error" and somewhere around the 4:30 mark it just stops.

I took the disc out and checked to see if I could see anything wrong with the disc and it looks good from what I can tell. When I put it back in it wont even read the disc...it just says "Format Error Disc" then flashes to "Format to play or record" and flashes again "enter: yes, cancel: no"

I havn't formatted the disc so is there anything that I can do? Everytime I put the disc in I get the same format error disc message....Ive taped 10 or so shows with the recorder and all the other ones have come out just fine. I've used both Sony 1GB discs and Sony 80min discs...but tonight the 1GB disc is giving me problems.

Since this has only happened once I can't say it's the disc or the player. Have there been any reports of the player or discs being bad.

just to rule out the player, you could try recording something on another (1gig) disc (with the same settings: PCM,...) and uploading it... I know this won't cure anything, but it's easier to help when one knows where exactly the problem occurs.

good luck, and I help you hope it's not your player that's acting up
