b_k_d
I've just received a MZ-RH10. And its wonderful. I was figuring out how totitle a track when I noticed somethings not quite right with the input matrix thingy.Look here...As seen in the picture - the last three letters are not shown on each line. The cursor will go over there, and you can use the letters but they're notshown?I've only tried switching languages back and forth, and its the same.Any suggestions? Thanks! Christopher
It's an error with this firmware and as a result this function doesn't work properly. For best use, just employ the titling functions in Sonicstage/Simple Burner.Thank you for the picture btw, I will probably use this in an upcoming news bit to share with the rest of the world. We've been aware of this for a while but this is the first picture I've actually seen of it.
Christopher
Okay..update, I have sent this information and your picture to a friend within Sony and we'll see what they have to say. I'll get back to you.
matheis
so after searching a bit on this, i came across a few references to this issue here. one mentioned that this problem doesn't arise with the japanese rh10. one mentioned a firmware hack that resolved the character pallette issue but lead to some new problems with editing. i just ordered a us verions rh10 (which should arrive tomorrow ) and am disappointed to see this problem. i'm hoping that you can help us find some resolution with this, kurisu - via your friend at sony. having had previous md units, i know they didn't allow you to load new firmware, but shouldn't it be less of an issue with the hi-md units? they're drag-n-drop capability seems perfect for loading up new firmware...just like an iriver imp mp3 pcdp.it won't be a deal breaker for me, but i certainly would like to have a fully functional unit!Okay..update, I have sent this information and your picture to a friend within Sony and we'll see what they have to say. Christopher
You are correct about the Japanese MZ-RH10 - it is able to title correctly and doesn't have such woes..I'm fairly confident that Sony will introduce a fix for this matter soon, as they seem to have a resolution in place already (from what I've heard). I will post a reply again as soon as I hear more.It will be interesting to see how a fix is distributed..
matheis
ahh, that's good to hear! i just received my rh10 and am relieved to hear that there will be a fix for the problem. that makes me more confident that i made the right choice. i think i'll open it up & get going on the learning curve, then two days until concert recording time!!!looking forward to updates regarding the character input issue, as it'll help when i'm recording different acts at concert time.thanks!nikolausYou are correct about the Japanese MZ-RH10 - it is able to title correctly and doesn't have such woes..I'm fairly confident that Sony will introduce a fix for this matter soon, as they seem to have a resolution in place already (from what I've heard). matheis
firmware updates via the web would be a perfect supplement to hi-md and would make it much more competitive! i certainly hope this is the type of fix that's in the works good news, kurisu.hehe, dont we all hope/think: with the first firmwareupdate ever ←
Terence Kelly
I can't offer any solution, but I too reported this problem to Sony support. I have a US RH10. Interestingly, if you run it in NET MD mode, the character matrix is properly displayed. TK
matheis
being a newbie to him-md, i assume running it in NT MD more means trying to edit the name of an atrac3 (sp, lp2, lp4) track on the rh10? so it just doesn't function properly when trying to edit the name of pcm or atrac3+ tracks?I can't offer any solution, but I too reported this problem to Sony support. You can use standard minidiscs in NET MD mode, using atrac 3 codecs. The RH 10 won't record atrac3 through its line or mic inputs, but it will through sonicstage. I just happened to notice that the character matrix was correct when I had an older disk in the unit. TK
matheis
man, i think sony really needs to start sending us units to beta-test That's right.
