I have upgraded to Sonicstage 3.1. The problem is that I have a lot of folders with mp3 music. with the older versions of SonicStage I could import folders or import tracks to specific albums that I could then transfer to my Hi Md. Now SonicStage has the "scan folder" function that imports all files to random albums that cannot be moved. Besides, the mp3 conversion tool does not work with Sonicstage 3.1.

I tried to import assorted tracks from different folders and Sonicstage produced 10 different albums. WHAT A LOT OF CRAP!!!

Can anyone tell me where can I get Sonicstage 2.3? it was the best version sony has had so far.

I NEED HELP. unsure.gif I AM ALWAYS IMPORTING TRACKS TO MY HI MD.

Help me!!

{mod Edit}In the future don't try and use huge fonts to get your point across{/mod Edit}

The solution is simple.

The source column in previous Versions is now the Album column.

You have to sort your library again by finding the tracks back and entering the Album name into the Album field.

SonicStage then creates an Album with the same name and moves the tracks into that Album.

The Album itself is dropped into the group containing all other albums of the same artist.

Another thing: When moving multiple files that way, remember not to touch the Title field in that dialogue, not even clicking into it.

When importing MP3-files, make sure that all fields in the ID3-Tag contain the correct information.

Then of course the MP3-files are sorted into the correct Albums.

The following fields must be set:

Title

Artist

Album

Genre

Track#

Normally, when reading a CD, these fields are correctly set, thanks to CDDB,

but on downloaded or self ripped MP3s, this is often not the case.

Result: Chaos after import.

Note: If both ID3-tag versions are present (V1 and V2) Version 2 is used.

Yes I agree, if only Sonic Stage has a little flexability.

Yes, I agree with you. Sonicstage is the worst software to work woth your files. I am downloading the GODFATHER and it looks excellent. It is so simple to use. I hate using SonicStage. I understand that Buffalo Japan has started to produce HiMd units and the software it is going to use is BEATJAM for buffalo. Does anyone know if it is going to be compatible with Sony units?

Thanks

Hey, I found an easier way to import folders to SonicStage 3.1. BEFORE scanning folders or importing tracks, you should highlight all the tracks that you will import and right click on them. Then choose "properties" in the context menu.

A dialog window will appear. Click on the "summary" tag and then Specify an name of ALBUM and ARTIST (even if is is just a number).

Then import the tracks. It works like a miracle and all the tracks will be imported to the albums you want.

Hope this is of some help
