kentlewan
Hi, I often listen to streamed audio via RealPlayer and Winamp. I was wondering just for kicks if its possible to record that streamed audio that is being transmitted via my PC's soundcard directly onto my Sharp IM DR 410H. Thanks for answering-
zerodB
Yep, you can do this for sure! Just hook up the ouput of your soundcard to the input of your MD recorder, hit record on your MD, play on the PC, and you're recording!
atrain
or you can look out for a program called streambox vcr that records real audio & WM streams. then you'll have a digital copy. was a legal program but real bought them out so it's not the easiest thing to find, although if you can't get it via google or filesharing i may have one somewhere. kentlewan
Hi, and thanks. I've got another question then. What cable do I need for hooking up PC to MD and where do I get it. In the MD manual from Sharp, it explains that the digital IN cable (for playing MD files through a digital stereo) is optional and must be purchased. Is this the same thing I need? Or are there cheaper cables?Yep, you can do this for sure! Just hook up the ouput of your soundcard to the input of your MD recorder, hit record on your MD, play on the PC, and you're recording!←
jadeclaw
Two choices:If you have optical out (rectangular hole with a red light in it), you buy an optical cable "Toslink to miniplug 3.5mm".If you use the normal output (where the amplifier/active speakers are plugged in), you buy a cable with a 3.5mm stereoplug on each end. (Like the one on your earbuds)These cables are available for a few bucks at any decent electronics store, e.g. Radio Shack.
robmill
Another option for capturing Audio streams is Re-Play Music. This software gives you the option to record in the follwong formats:MP3 - 128k, 192k, 256k, or 320kWAVMP3 CDAudio CDI first capture the stream as MP3 320k or WAV then use Sonicstage to burn to my NetMD player. One handy feature is it uses CDDB to tagging when you record as MP3.Robert
