Sonicstage 3.1 Wav Question...

Hey all,

Quick question.. Sorry if this has been covered somewhere, I tried searching a bit, but to no avail...

I Installed SonicStage 3.1 recently, and while uploading some of my own recordings, noticed that it gave me the option to upload as WAV files... I seem to remember trying sony's WAV converter with a previous version of SonicStage, and it would automatically cut the WAV files if they were over a certain length/size.. (at least it did this to me). Therefore I switched to MarcNet's HiMDRenderer (great program, I highly recommend donating if you use this program!).

Basically, I am just wondering if anyone knows whether this same file-splitting situation will happen with SonicStage 3.1...

Thanks All!!

Raintheory-

That's a great question. I haven't uploaded anything large for WAV yet with SS 3.1. I totally forgot about the WAV converter cutting the tracks. I make a habit of dividing the tracks on the recorder BEFORE I upload. That way, you only risk losing that 1 track if there is an error. Anybody want to test this issue?

I don't really know which lenghts we are talking about, but I have already, whithout any problem, converted one 45min, one 62min and one 64min interview (in Hi-SP) to (3x one 'uncut') wav using the SS3.1 built-in converter...so at least up untill 64 minutes I'm pretty sure it's safe...

if I have to do longer interviews, I will test them too... but that could take a while (I hope tongue.gif , 'cause I have to type 'em out too)

I think what would test this fully would be one long PCM track of 92 minutes uploaded with the "save in WAV format" option to check whether or not SS will "cut" this track at certain point (I think it was 70 minutes or 650Mb,etc). See this post for explanation: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=6598

The recordings that were automatically split in sonys old WAV converter were (i think) split around the ~45min mark.. Which was devastating because these were recordings of some of our extended improvisational musical endevours that really didnt have anywhere in them that could be track marked... so i ended up with two files that just happened to be split at the worst possible place..

-Edit: I guess it was around the 70min mark, now that I think of it... It split into two tracks, a ~70min, and a ~45min one. Perhaps sony thought they were doing us a favor by making them so they would fit on CD? sheesh...

-aA
