I have just received my brand new NW-HD5 and tried to install sonicstage3.1 from the cd provided . I unistalled my virus protection progs and closed all other programs. After rebooting and trying to launch sonic stage I got this message. Please can anyone help??

Cannot find the database or the database file is corrupt. Click OK to correct the database or cancel to exit the program.

I have no problems with any other software I use.

I run XP home edition

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

The "cannot locate the files required to open the database file" issue can be resolve by re-registering the MDAC. You can download the MDAC repair tool here.

If the problem still persist after trying the above solution, try the following steps provided by Sony to one of our member:

** If you are running Service Pack 2 please follow the instructions in Section 1, else go to Section 2. **

Section 1

--> Click on the [start] button and select [Run...].  In the dialog box, type explorer and click on [Ok].

--> Click on the [Tools] menu and select [Folder Options].  Click on the [View] tab.

--> In the [Advanced settings:] section select the option to [show hidden files and folders].  Click on [Apply] [Ok].

--> Go to the folder [C:\Windows\Inf].

--> Right click on either [MDAC.INF] or [MSACINST.INF], whichever file is present, and then click on [install].

--> If you are prompted for your Microsoft Windows CD, insert the Windows CD into your CD drive, click on the [browse] button and go to [C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\I386] folder on your hard disk and click on [Open].  Click on the [Ok] button.

--> If at any time you are prompted for the Windows XP CD, click on the

[browse] button and go to either the [C:\I386] or the [C:\Windows\I386] folder on your hard disk and click on [Open].  Click on the [Ok] button.

--> Restart your computer.

--> Re-try starting SonicStage.

Section 2

--> Click on the [start] button and select [Run...].  In the dialog box type explorer and click on [Ok].

--> If you are prompted for your Microsoft Windows CD, insert the Windows CD into your CD drive, click on the [browse] button and go to either the [C:\I386] or the [C:\Windows\I386] folder on your hard disk and click on [Open].  Click on the [Ok] button.

--> If you are not prompted for your Windows CD, click on the [browse] button and go to either the [C:\I386] or the [C:\Windows\I386] folder on your hard disk and click on [Open].  Click on the [Ok] button.

--> Restart your computer.

--> Re-try starting SonicStage.

Good luck and do let us know how it goes.

Hi guys, I'm having problems with this same issue. The problem is, I dont have my windows CD anymore, and the re-registering did not work. Am I fucked?

What you may want to do is install the latest version of MDAC from this location:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en

Make sure you are logged in with an admin account.

Once done, reboot. Re-start Sonic Stage and let us know what happens.
