Also not sure how to operate as there are no instruction for this operation in the manual for my MD It would be so great if anyone could help me as the microphone costed me $190- blink.gif and I've been waiting to use it to record sounds from nature to mix into my techno that I mixed it will sound so great if I ever get it working. If my model does not support the mic I'm willing to buy the model that will support it. cool.gif I have a great knowledge of rebuilding computer hardware so I can be very helpfull if anyone needs advice on installing new memory modules/cd roms etc...someone please help and I will be forever gratefull. rolleyes.gif

Look in the Browser tab at the top of the www.minidisc.org page.

Sony models with Mic-in: MZ-RH10, MZRH910, MZ-NH900, MZ-NHF800, MZ-NH700, MZ-NH1. These are all Hi-MD models that will allow you to upload recordings to a PC.

Reguar MDs with mic jack--which do not upload, but you can record analog out of the headphone jack--include MZ-N920 NE810 NF610 NF810 N910 N710 N707 R900 and R700.

this 'browser' tab gets mentioned quite often in 'find your minidisc'-threads... I was just wondering, am I going blind or haven't I got a browser tab?

  • 1 month later...

I had a 505 and had to upgrade to a 707 for recording with my sony mic. I have a 907 sony mic, It has a AA batt included for a little bit of boost, but it's not going to be enough to record nature sounds.

You can only record really loud music on the 505 via the line in (which is both optical and analog 1/8")

I might strongly sugest a new Hi-MD (with a mic and line input, of course). They start at 199 and are totally worth it. You can use old dscs, and use it as a USB storage device up to 1 GB with the new discs (300MB with the regular old discs.)

I just ordered an open box one from minidisco.com to replace my old units.

The greatest thing is that you don't have to plug the headphone line into your PC's audio card with all that hissing ant intereefierence. You can now uploaad music recorded from your mic directly to the PC using teh USB.

I'm totally psyched to remaster all of my old recordings in total digital lovin'

welcome to MDCF shig420,

nice to see someone all excited about Hi-MD...it is a fine format indeed

but just a slight reminder... you do realize that you won't be able to use the USB-uploading method for your old recordings?

all pre-HiMD recordings and also SP/LP2/LP4 recordings on MD-formatted discs made with the HiMD-recorder are still only uploadable in realtime through the line out/headphone out (analoguely) or optical out (digitally) if you have got a deck which has one... but no USB-uploading

see this stickied post and this one for a more detailed explanation

greetings, Volta
