Puma
I need help and I'm kind of confused. I got an MZ-N707 NetMD here and all I want to do is transfer files from my PC to the walkman. Only now I don't have the software CD for OpenMG Jukebox which I hear does the actual transferring. The only thing I have is a cord which enables me to record CD's being played off stereo systems. Is there anywhere I can download the OpenMG or any other software freely that allows me to connect the walkman to my pc and transfer? Because It seems this great walkman I heard so much about is practically useless without it's essentials. And another curious question. If I do somehow get the software how much space will it really be able to store? Because all these FAQ's mention some kind of compression. atrain
you will need a usb to usb mini plug. take your md to a computer store, it's the same plug many digi cameras also use.as for the software, please read the stickies at the top of the software & support forum, they'll tell you where to download it from. Puma
I got one more question for yeh. What is the offical storage capacity of the MZ-N707 for transferring music? Because alot of FAQ's mention compressionI hear it's 5 hours of mp3 files. But doesn't it range depending on what mode of comnpression you set it. And if you do I hear it effects the quality of the sound if you increase the capacity. Edited June 21, 2005 by Puma
The Low Volta
I hear it's 5 hours of mp3 files. But doesn't it range depending on what mode of comnpression you set it. And if you do I hear it effects the quality of the sound if you increase the capacity.you do realize that only 2nd gen Hi-MD can play MP3 files...all other MD's including your Net-MD N707 have to convert these to other formats (LP or SP in your case) as stated in the description of N707 hereWhat is the offical storage capacity of the MZ-N707 for transferring music? Because alot of FAQ's mention compressionjust read the N707 user manual...it's all in there (page 28)greetings, Volta!please read the user manual before you ask questions! atrain
by the way mate, use LP2 @ 132kbs for superior size/sound quality ratio
Puma
Nice. Seems the whole Sonic Stage is messed up. I was really depending on it too. Before It wouldn't install for some reason, whinning about WMP9 codecs when I already installed them. Now out of nowhere and for some unexplainable reason it installed correctly along with everything else. *Now* when I start it up it claims Windows Media Player files are missing and here I am right now trying to reinstall it with the same problem in the beginning. Why can't anything work? It says it's so simple when it's so complicated and unreliable. Edited June 22, 2005 by Puma
atrain
try uninstalling, doing windows update inc winmp9, then reinstalling, it's not bad software when it works. if you are willing to go the whole hog here make sure you do it this wayhttp://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8071
Puma
My PC won't allow me to download Winmp 9, not sure if it's a problem. I was trying to figure out if Sonic Stage wasn't working before when it actually installed because I only had Winmp 7.1 instead of Winmp 9. Despite I didn't have Wmp9 installed yet maybe the Wmp9 codecs. So do you think Sonic Stage would run without Winmp 9? And if it did where do I get these elusive WMP9 codecs that function & how to install them correctly. This part in the FAQ you added is confusing, I guess if your not a com wiz.3. Start -> Run -> regedit. The 'Registry Editor' utility should appear on your screen. Delete the references to OpenMG located under 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Sony Corporation/Sonicstage' and 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Sony Corporation' by right-clicking on the entries.Does entries apply for folders? Do you delete the folders or all the files to the right? Does Jukebox count as OpenMG? That's all that messes me up there..This is either very hard, very messed up or very restricted. Puma
Thanks. Did that. Did what Volta suggested. Nada.In the end SonicStage says "Cannot locate needed files related to Windows Media format. Exiting SonicStage"
