Old Mds Not Up To Hi-md Standard?

I've recently been re-recording MDs on my RH910 that were last recorded around 5 years ago. Mostly off-brands like Princo and Hi-Space. Some of them take forever to "save" once I stop recording, making it not worthwhile to record on them any more. But these same MDs will still re-record fine on my old MD equipment.

Newer MDs record fine on my RH910. Since the problem MDs are old and off-brand, it's no big deal. But I was curious if anyone else has MDs that won't record in Hi-MD modes, but record fine on pre-Hi-MD equipment.

May just be the discs.

Although the Hi-Space discs get a good write up for quality, they are the only brand of Minidisc that I have had problems with, music started skipping after several tracks on disc. I just recorded less data on them (~57mins)

Still, just 2 'faulty' MDs out of over 350 isn't bad....

I've got a few old discs I recorded that play fine or with very little trouble on my old equipment, but playback skips and cuts out when they're played on my Hi-MD player. Strange. You'd think they'd play great on new equipment, but all my problems are bassakwards. I have problems recording on new Hi-MD discs but not the old, er.."standard" ones.
