kitcho
i recently did a move on a large amount of audio samples and recordings to another computer (NH600), using a blank himd disc and ss2. few questionswhat is the speed difference between ss2 and ss3.x? ie: time difference in moving or copying the contents of an entire himd disc.are 2nd gen himd recorders faster for transfering files(faster than my NH600Z)? ie: data transferI'm at the point where im debating between upgrading to either the new 910 md recorder because of the the line in / digital connections but also good battery life and sleek design. the other choice is an ipod mini but then i'd lose the line in / digi connection. thats how im torn now. i currently have media on 5mds and 2 himds and i am satisfied with the product overall. however, i feel my nh600 is somewhat poor quality - i guess you get what you paid for. would there be a noticeable increase in build and sound QUALITY from a NH600 to the new 910? thanks
veezhun
what is main purpose? is it playback, recording , or both??i recommend for ONLY playback, go with a HDD based player..for any other use, the rh910 will suit you fine.. the 2 devices have their own strenghts and cannot be compared( in my opinion).. its easier to compare the ipod to the hd3/hd5 than the rh910

The Low Volta
i guess i should of mentioned this i am a mac user running vpc.SS3.1 is a bit faster than previous versions (sorry I've got no figures...but they might be around MDCF somewhere, search a bit) but VPC will always reduce speed very much...but whether you upgrade your player or not, do upgrade SS to 3.1 IMHOif you really want decent quality recordings, Hi-MD beats the ipuddle (I don't even know if you can record at all with a mini?) and almost any other HD-player...but for listening ease and mac compatibility, an ipop could be a good choicegreetings, Volta
sushi
I'm not sure either. I can only say that after 7 years of MD, I've no regrets. MD has proved itself invaluable to me.
veezhun
if it is both recording and playback, by all means invest in the rh910.. it will suit you just fine.. you will love the recording quality ( i have done a few concerts myself with the rh10). the rh910 and the rh10 are the same except for the OLED screen on the rh10 so the quality will be the same..enjoy the hi md..
