Uploading From Md To Pc

I have just bought a Sony Net MD Walkman, MZ-N710, and have installed downloaded and installed SonicStage 3.1 on my PC. And then spent several hours trying to upload tracks recorded on the Walkman onto my PC so I can burn them onto CDs.

But SonicStage gives me the error message "Unable to transfer to the computer".

More hours trying to work out what's going wrong, and I read this thread on this bulletin board.

Have I understood right? That I can't do what I bought it to do? Sorry to be thick, but isn't this the point of MD recorders?

Any thoughts or suggestions much appreciated! If there's some other software I can download to do this, please let me know...

well... the initial point for MD was to replace audio casette which wouldn't allow digital uploading either. Net-MD is the last step in the MD evolution as they simply added PC->MD downloading.

Then there was the Revolution called Hi-MD: higher density media (1gig) and digital uploading of recordings...

So either you were informed wrong by your retailer, or you hadn't really looked into the spcifications and simply presumed USB connection was always in both directions (which actually sounds a bit logic I admit...but still do your research before you spend money)

Analogue realtime rerecording on PC is actually your only real option, though there was some software that eased the process (which can still be found somewhere on these forums...but I would use audacity, as it is good, free and versatile...see the downloads section)

If you have an MD player with a digital OUT and a PC (soundcard) with digital in, you could do it realtime digitally...

If for the future (as the recordings made in any format except Hi-LP, Hi-SP or PCM can never be uploaded through USB) you want to avoid (analogue or digital) realtime recording, see if you could get a refund and buy a Hi-MD... they aren't that expensive and do allow what you were looking for: faster than realtime digital uploading

thanks all...just love to help ppl out ...and about my "knowledge" almost everything I "know" (which isn't all that much, I often enough find myself fumbling with inadequate terms on some topics ) I picked up here on MDCF myself (or from reading my user manual, which is something more ppl should do )...I just remember stuff from time to time

and nagging about ppl posting the same questions over and over again is simply my second nature (my girlfriend sometimes hates me for that )

The closest Seahorse and other NetMD owners can come to digital uploading is WinNMD.

It's 14 euros now, but saves time and effort in the realtime recording process if you have already placed track marks on the MD.

By connecting headphone-out to soundcard line-in and connecting the USB, WinNMD controls the MD and records each MD track to a separate file. Back in the NetMD era it was a godsend.

But now, the thing to do is get Hi-MD to begin with.
