DavidM10
I want to get a Hi-MD recorder for analog recording of voice (singing), instruments and karaoke tracks from a mixing amp. The recordings will be uploaded both analog directly to a CDRW deck to burn cds and digitally to a pc. I also need the ability to play MDs recorded on an older Sharp MD recorder. My candidates are the RH10, RH910 or NH900. MP3 capabilities are not a consideration. Thanks,David
KJ_Palmer
You should get the NH900 in that case, as the RH10 and RH910 can't record directly (via either analogue or digital inputs) to any format that your Sharp will be able to play (SP or perhaps MDLP modes)... Though you will be able to record these older formats via the Sonicstage software...You will need to upgrade to Sonicstage 3.1 (see in the Downloads section) to upload to your PC with relative ease, as the NH900 is only supplied with Sonicstage 2.0...As the NH900 is offically phased out, they're not as easily available as they used to be, though there seem to be some delicious bargains on this unit, so another reason to buy one... DavidM10
Actually the Sharp is dead. I just need to be able to play the MDs recorded on the Sharp.David
KJ_Palmer
Oh, I misundertstood - well the RH10 and 910 would be able to play those MDs back...Maybe best to get the RH10 - problem is that the face plate is very easily scratched - so you need to put your own plastic film over it... I do have both the NH900 and RH10 - its close, but I marginally prefer the NH900 operationally, but the RH10 wins visually with its lovely OLED display, and it does have superior battery life... Oh and the RH10 also comes complete with Sonicstage 3.0 which has uploading functions built in...Also the RH10 has no 'line out' mode, which makes it tricky for analogue outputs... veezhun
accroding fo Dex and i have tried this as well, the rh10 at volume levels of 29/30 and eq off is very close to a line level..get the rh10.. it rocks.. and it is easily available.. the nh900 (brand new) is not so easily available.. dont buy a used piece IMHO
DavidM10
It seems I can play older recorded MDs on the 2nd gen HiMD. Now, can an MD recorded on a 2nd gen HiMD be played back by an older (I believe it's a Sony) MD/CDRW deck in the deck's MD player?Sorry about the confusion.David
The Low Volta
It seems I can play older recorded MDs on the 2nd gen HiMD.indeedNow, can an MD recorded on a 2nd gen HiMD be played back by an older (I believe it's a Sony) MD/CDRW deck in the deck's MD player?nope, you could make playable MD's through SS (but only at LP2 quality, and fake SP, which is also LP2 actually) but you can't "record" in any format that is understood by pre-Hi-MD equipment with the 2nd gen Hi-MD's (with 1st gen on the other hand this is possible)greetings, Volta
