So, let me see if I got this right;

I have downloaded the service manual for dh10p and have seen the procedure for changing destination code as follows:

1. Enter the test mode

2. Press the Vol+ key to enter the Manual mode

3. Press the FF key five time to select the item number 0113 and display follows the line 113 DistFl with two hexadecimal values that I need to change

4. Press the Vol+/- key and set the according value:

US - 28

AEP and UK - A0

Chinese and Tourist - 24

5. Press the joystick with function Play pause and enter to write the adjusted value

6. Press the stop key four times to go back to test mode

Is this right (looks like the exact procedure for RH10/910)?

Which destination code i should choose if i buy european model?

How do i enter service mode since i haven't seen this in the service manual (is it the same for all models)?

Item number 0114 is mentioned - should i change this also to 80 as mentioned?

At the end i have to take out the battery?

What i gane or loose if choosing 24 and what with 28 value?

If you employ code 24, you gain the ability to title and display tracks in Japanese/Chinese characters.

Hi Ishiyoshi,

According to the service manual I have to short SL801 on the mainboard to enter test mode.

Is there no easier way to enter the test mode without opening / disassemble the MD.

regards,

Shahid

Welcome to MDCF!

I am not aware that you need to short SL801 to enter test mode for this particular model. Try and contact richyhu (Richard) or tmeg for advise. They are owners of the MZ-DH10P.

Hi, I have never entered service mode on my DH10P as it is a Japanese model and the output is already at 5mw. The output on the EU model is a meagre 2.8mw.

I do not endorse personally any of the steps mentioned below but...

You could try the same method as is available for the RH10 to enter service mode:

http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=9752

See above for the steps, then change the area code as per p.20 of the DH10P service manual, but please be very careful indeed - changing anything other than the destination code would likely render the unit unsable.

Hi fellow MDers!!

To enter the service mode on a European DH10P you'll need a LCD remote because nothing's visible on the units screen. 1. Press the play key to turn it on, 2. Slide the hold on, 3. Press & hold the volume- (down) button, then do the forward, forward, back, back etc key presses. When you're in the service mode the CHG & OPR lights flash on the unit. You can then either use the remote or the main unit buttons to change the 113 settings. If you've done it correctly you now have EQ custom 1&2 & full volume.....Be as deaf as you want....Your choice!!

Best of Luck

The Potleyman

I'd love a DH10P and will snatch one up if I ever see one at a reduced price. But only if I'm sure it can be hacked to 5mW, otherwise it's all but useless as far as I'm concerned. I'd be amazed if it couldn't be hacked just as easily as other first and second generation units.

Hi jonny

Try www.greatuniversal.co.uk they are selling a DH10P for £165...You'll get a 20% discount if you've not used the site before...A MZ-DH10P for £131!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hack is the same as always...Just hold the volume- down button (instead of the menu or group button) when entering the service mode. You'll need to use a LCD remote as nothing's seen on screen.
