VillagerN
Hi,I have recently bought a NH900 (good old Argos) and am pretty pleased generally except for one thing: I am temporarily without a computer, so I've recorded a few CDs and been inputting the titles manually so I can try out the search functions etc. The problem is that the 'nav/menu' button on the recorder seems really dodgy: if I try and hold it down for 2 seconds to access the main menu, at least half the time it brings up the nav menu instead which then flashes on and off until I let go of the button. I've been using two fingers to press the tiny button really precisely in order to try and see the magic word 'edit' flash on the screen.I can access the menu fine with the remote, and realise I can use this most of the time, but would like to know if all the units act this way or whether I have a dodgy one (could maybe the connection be loose, so it doesn't register a long push?)Alternatively, if I am obviously doing something wrong, someone please tell me! I keep re-reading the instructions to check I'm doing the right thing.N.
KJ_Palmer
Sounds dodgy to me - I'd take it straight back to Argos - they have a good returns policy I think, judging by the length of that queue in my local branch...
The Low Volta
you're doing absolutely nothing wrong...it's a fault and I had it too when I first got my NH900 (back in December) as I described in this thread and there were a few others with the same problems...only option (IMHO): send it in for repairs... it was fixed (under warranty) by Sony and has worked correct ever since (the gaps I mentioned in the thread actually came from a bad file )just get them to fix it, as it is such a fun machine and you should be able to enjoy it as it was meant to be!greetings, VoltaPS: ok, two options, you can always have it replaced by another (fully functioning) machine... forgot about that for a moment, but the shop I got mine from didn't want to do that and would only send it back to Sony
VillagerN
Thanks for the feedback. Of course, due to a combination of my being far too hasty to have a go on my new toy and having piles of stuff everywhere readying to move house, I'm going to have to do some digging for receipt... At least I know it's a fixable thing.
Haybrd
Sounds dodgy to me - I'd take it straight back to Argos - they have a good returns policy I think, judging by the length of that queue in my local branch...←Hi VillagerN,I too got my NH900 from Argos but without the problem you (and Volta) described. I have taken loads of stuff back Argos before and they are really good. if you don't find the reciept then if you have the box etc and it still has there stock label on it they usually except that as proof of purchase in my experience.Happy listening/recording! I love my MD!
bucksfizz
My foolproof method for not losing receipts is to put it in the box that contained the product, and put the box in the loft. It's always easier to sell on a product if you have the box anyway.
VillagerN
Managed to find receipt (will stick it to box now!) and take it back to an Argos with a couple in stock.New one *seems* to work fine...will have some fun now trying to fill up the disc!N. Mr_Bass_Man
Is there any point comparing the serial numbers of "good" NH900s with "bad" ones?I have two, one with the "irritating dodgy stop button" fault, and one without it.The one which misbehaves (bought second hand via EBay, from a smoker judging by the smell) is S/N 5023736.The other one, bought new from Amazon (special offer ) is S/N 5040968.I'm a non-smoker, btw ... [just in case there is any significance in that ...] Edited August 4, 2005 by Mr_Bass_Man
