Syrius
To make the story short, a fellow gamer team is developing a CD game for Turbo Grafx, and needs voice talents. I plan on submitting my demo after recording it on Hi-MD.I got a C 606W mike from Shure. Mono recording is not a problem, I can always make it binaural. My problem is, does it have to be a powered microphone, or will a dynamic one do? I can only remember that Sony says not to use condenser ones. Thanks for any info. greenmachine
Dynamic mono mikes will work since they don't need to be powered at all, but since this one seems to use xlr connectors, you'll need an adapter to connect it to the MD and you'll propably only get a signal on one channel (usually left) without a special mono to stereo adapter - not a real problem if you plan to edit it afterwards anyway. Phantom powered ones won't work because they need a high voltage to operate, usually 48V.Before spending too much on adapters and other accessories, you might consider to get a commonly used, simple to operate electret mic. They're usually inexpensive and might easily surpass yours in sound quality. If you already do have adapters, just give it a try.
A440
The cheap Chinese "stereo lapel microphone for minidisc" (pictured with an MD recorder) that's always on Ebay will do a fine job with your voice.
